  • Where do you mount the projector?

Hello All. Looking for some insight. I am looking to install a ProTee system within a 13*10*10 enclosure. This would be for commercial use for lefties and righties. My question is, where should I mount the projector so its safe and out of the way of any swing plane? I'm thinking about having the hitting sensor about 8-9 feet away from the screen. Ideally there wouldn't be any projection shadow, but some shadow from clubs would be ok.

I was thinking I could get an ultra short throw optoma and go with the floor mount, but I can't help but feel this would throw off putting and confine the space even more. So if I do go with a ceiling mount, where do you position it? 1-2 feet in front of the golfer? 1-2 behind the golfer? On top of the golfer? Given that this should be sitting a few inches below the enclosure (or behind and below), I'm just not sure how to protect it from any wildly steep swings.

    Any and all help appreciated.

Overhead mounting of short throw projectors usually puts them somewhere just over the tee area, maybe a bit ahead of the golfer, or just above the ball.

Not even the "wildly steep swing" should come close to the projector. If it does, they should give up golf!

Floor mounting a projector gets in the way of putting, and, it is also a tripping hazard, especially in lower lighting conditions.

Usually the shot that gets near it is the skyball off the driver crown

My optima 1080 is about 7 ft from a 12ft wide screen. My protee tee is 10’ from the screen. It’s nowhere near a swing. It would be possible to hit it with a high wedge shot but haven’t yet. U can modify a milk crate to protect it from balls. Just so you know this projector has high offset meaning if u place it on the ground the image will be a good deal off the ground. Go to projector calculator to find out how much.
