  • Garage Phased Build

    Hey All,

I have been thinking about a garage build and was thinking about doing it in phases. Starting with just an ipad with Skytrak and hitting net or impact screen and then moving on to a projector and dedicated PC. My first question is, would something like this work on a u-shaped track? https://www.golfswingsystems.co.uk/w...14/10/rjsm.jpg. It's an archery net that can be mounted on a track.

I am trying to figure out a non-permanent setup of hitting into the back of my garage bay. Something like this on a track could be stored on the side of the garage when not in use. Would a setup like this also work as a projection screen if I added a projector later?

Has anyone done a similar setup and if so, can you share the track and netting/impact screen you used?

Is there anything else I should consider?

    Thanks.

Yes, i did something similar in my garage during one of my build phases. I used steel cable with turnbuckles to tighten it. Then I used carabiners to hang the archery netting and just slid it in and out as needed. Archery netting bunches very easily and works well for this. After that I added a projector, the image on archery netting isn't the greatest, but was fine for me. That is until i upgraded a couple more times.

This would be on the side of your garage and no need to move out of the way. It could be placed 6 to 12 inches off the wall.
I used 3/4 inch conduit piping and canopy fittings for my frame and side rails. I can have my system up to play in a minute or two and down in the same time to get my vehicles in the garage. I saw this idea for a frame and thought it would be inexpensive, solid and has lots of anchor points for connection of net or hitting screen to the angle iron.

3 photos of my garage and office build with another picture of frame. In garage build I just roll up the sides towards the screen frame and bungee it to frame and it’s out of the way.

Both my garage build and the wood frame build are on side of garage and we both can use our back door to get out of the garage.

Picture of my side curtains rolled up. If you look closely at the right post going from ceiling to ground you can see a canopy fitting joining two 5 foot pipes.. I can pull my side curtains up to this and attach bungee cord to protect against an errant shot to the side. I can leave the right pole up and can take the left pole down so my wife doesn’t hit it with her car. Ignore link below. See picture instead.

4 way canopy fittings for front of frame for screen so you can attach poles on top of ceiling to attach net or screen to catch wedge shots.

I love how that looks. Would be interested in seeing how much that would run total (I am looking at doing a 10' W x 9' H and would like at least 6-7' side protection, so that would be at least a 24x9 archery net on the track) but would solve everything I am looking at except for something to protect the ceiling. Which wbond just posted what he using in another post which is crazy cheap.

I like this a lot but after spending some more time taking practice swings in the garage I am not sure that solution would work for me. I have a post in the middle of my garage and it's making any sort of set up difficult especially a side wall like yours.

For those with a Skytrak is there a minimum distance you have to be from the screen or any particular reason why setups tend to be 10-12' from the screen/net?

Only enough space to swing the club. Most people like 10’ because it usually allows to hit most shots without hitting it too high and gives you a pretty immersive feel and balls don’t rebound all the way back.
