  • 10 ft ceilings 8.5' screen

THis is my first post in the group and have been reading the topics for quite a while now. I have an area that is 15'6" wide and 10 ft tall for my screen. I went to carl's and the 15 ft screen is only 8.5' high (16x9 aspect ratio). I am putting angle iron on the ceiling to hang the screen from. I was figuring I would hang it off of bungee cords about 1 foot down. This will still leave me with about a foot off of the floor. Should I attach 2 feet of heavy black fabric to the bottom of the screen to make up the difference and have protection from balls going under the screen. If some one has any other ideas I would love to hear them..
    THanks for the help

Get a different screen. There is a thread in the screen section where you can buy direct from the mill, it's 10' tall by whatever width you want. Should be starting to ship soon since the material has arrived.

I built a new floor on top of my garage floor using 2x4s, plywood, and outdoor carpet. The closed the gap between my screen and the floor, and gave me a nice 'above ground' surface to cut my putting cups into. I realize you may not want to do that with a 1 foot gap, but you could lower the top of the screen as well.

THanks for the info...I did go with this screen so I can do the whole 10ft high.

I may end up doing this as well, later. FOr now just want to get the sim up and running.

I'd call Carl's and ask for a return. They should have told you that they make custom sizes. I bought a 14' X 10' with no grommets on the bottom. I did this because I am going to build a ramp and let the extra material sit on it, thus, no grommets needed (they put a hem on the bottom for me to boot). My design calls for a 2 X 4 ramp with a 2 X 4 framed subfloor with 3/4 decking. This will give me 7.75" of material sitting on the ramp in a 10'4" tall enclosure. I am hoping this will not let balls pass through on the bottom. If they do, I'll put something behind the bottom of the screen.

Well, that is good to know. Did they charge extra for it being custom? Did you go premium or preferred? If my freshly ordered one falls apart quickly, I know I can at least call them and get something to fit.
              Thanks for the info

Premium and it was $ 899.95. $ 25.00 more than a 14 X 8. I wouldn't hit into it yet. I have read online that they are pretty good on returns. They may take it back and get you what you need.

I have the same problem as the OP except I have an 8' tall x 14' wide screen so there will be a 2' gap at the top ( I want the bottom of screen to touch floor). Can't you just use longer bungees? Sorry for bumping this old thread. In the process of building my sim and doing as much research as possible.
