  • GC Hawk build - question

    Hi guys,

I’m planning to build a setup with a GC Hawk and a Panasonic PT-VZ580. I have a question regarding the setup and maybe some of you can help me.

I’m planning to use a 16ft x10ft screen and i was wondering if the GC Hawk will be ok for the setup as im scared it will come across the projector’s image and leave a shadow on the screen. I checked online on projectorcentral and it seems i will have to place the projector at around 5.4 meters (around 17.5ft) away from the screen and at a height of 4.5 meters (around 14.5ft) in order to fill up the entire screen but my concern is that since the GC Hawk has to be mounted at a height of around 9.5 to 10.5ft and about 8 feet away from the screen, it might come accross the image from the projector and leave a shadow on the screen..

    Can anyone help with this?

    Cheers!

Go with a short throw projector.

wbond I thought about that but a short throw projector will probably cost double of the price of the PT-VZ580 if i want to get something with a native 16:10 and at least 5000 lumens..

i would like to stay under US$1,500 for the projector..

The Hawk does not hang low enough to effect the projector. You’ll be fine.

gene438 i thought about this projector, but i got feedbacks that the image wont be really good with this kind of screen size (16ft x 10ft)

gene438 What resolution are you using for the 16 x 10? If 1920 x 1200, did you have any problems getting to that setting since it is a native 1920 x 1080?

im also interested to know how you got a 16:10 since its a 16:9 native

gene438 it looks really nice, how far from the screen did you mount the projector?

I have the same projector, please let me know how you got that resolution. Did you force the image at the projector or pick it in the game settings? I use a monitor that is 16:9 and just mirror the same image to the projector.

I went with the Panasonic PT-VZ585N recommended by Foresight and I'm very happy. The picture quality is great
