For whatever reason whenever I touch my laptop in my sim setup I get shocked by static electricity. I worry a little about the computer, though the chassis should do a pretty good job of isolating the shock from the motherboard, but mostly it's just really annoying. I don't have the problem anywhere else in the house with the same computer, so I'm guessing it's the hitting/putting turf that is causing me to accumulate the charge. Any one have any good ideas about how to mitigate the issue? It's every single time I touch my computer and it's been driving me crazy.

ESD shoes... electrostatic dissipative shoes. They used a lot in technology fields to limit exactly what you are experiencing. I got a pair of sketchers, they work very well but aren’t totally effective if the environment gets excessively dry. If I run my heater for a couple hours my garage can get very dry and the problem still exists albeit not as bad.

Something we found that works is
1. make sure your CPU is on a rubber mat.
2. 2 part water 1 part liquid fabric softener in a spray bottle. Spray on the floor around your sim bay. Smells good to!
