  • Foldable enclosure allows car in garage when Launch Monitor is not in use

Initial problem - Wife refuses to give up half of our 2-car garage for a toy!? I guess I can't blame her, and reminding her that I would have installed it in the finished basement were it not for the 8' 6"
    ceilings got me no sympathy.

Solution - Modify Carl's Screen and Enclosure to allow hinging of the the side panels, which reduces the resting footprint of the enclosure down to 1 x 8 feet.

    Ha! Where there's a will, there's a way.

InB4 "U need a cage for ur projector". Might get by with one of those "Shank Boards" I saw on here instead. Another good idea IMO.

Do you have any connectivity issues with the longer USB cable? I've read things about it on here, but been suspicious. Effective length for USB 2.0 is 5 meters (and regardless of what your computer might be, the ST is only USB 2.0) so I was just curious. I can see having problems over that, but cables aren't really sold in lengths beyond that on purpose. However, if you throw an extender in there... You see what I'm getting at.

    Regardless, nice job!

Nice I love the hinge joints for the EMT frame!! Where did you happen to find them?

I just erected my enclosure in my 2 car garage and bungeed the side net panels to the front screen panel and created a pivot point that way so the nets fold into the corner of my garage and easily allow my wife's car to park and get my lawn tractor against the wall. I didn't go with the shank board because I have 2 windows behind my net/screen and wanted them fully protected, my wife is a beginner and I have some friends and family that are prone to a pop up or shank every now and then.

1-1/2" Stainless Steel Adjustable Corner Connector available at Grainger.com, item #52YX78. My first thought was to drill through the connector and the EMT, and then use Clevis pins to hold them together. After burning up two drill bits on the stainless, I used JB Weld two-part epoxy instead.

I am totally stealing this idea. Will have to modify a bit to work for my needs but thank you very much!!!
Provides me an opportunity to have the sim the size I want to play in while not having everyone else who lives here hate me.
This forum is an endless supply of great ideas.

Sick! Is this the DIY golf enclosure kit with impact screen from Carl’s? Do you have to have a bet behind this or anything?

Looks like he pops out the top cross bar and fold the sides.

I'm totally doing this too. Thanks for the tip. I have seen some PVC style ones on Amazon for like $12 each, could use construction adhesive to glue it on. I may try that route.

I'm totally stealing this idea. When we bought our new house in October, I did so telling my wife the garage was mine because of the 8' basement, but I still want to take up as little room out there a possible when the simulator isn't in use.

                          Nice job!

You think this could work too?

This will fit OD of 1.315 PVC 40 and EMT OD is only 1.163, fill it in with construction adhesive maybe?
Create a finished, clean look by sealing off your schedule 40 PVC pipe with these furniture grade, UV stabilized caps.

That looks like it's meant to handle cor-line sort of stuff rather than rigid PVC by my eye, but it's a small picture so I could be wrong.

What's the OD on the stainless fittings? Could you maybe fit them more snugly in a 3/4 EMT threaded connector attached to the 1" EMT with a TA, rigid coupling and threaded reducer?

Electrical contractor here. Just spitballing because it's nice to make things fit properly.

I like that price point a lot better.

Would you get the 3 way? Sorry I haven't much experience with any of this building stuff
