  • Photo Library Archive: Garage Builds

    Hello everyone,

I have found myself for months searching on the forum for different ideas and photos.

I think it would be a fantastic idea to have 1 thread that just has photos of your build and then a link if you made a thread describing your process.

This way for all future builders they simply start from this thread and can click on all the photos / links that interest them.

I am soon about to start my build so I don’t have photos but once it’s done I will.

Scotty could you have put those pads on your ceiling?

Tom919 - I suppose maybe putting on the ceiling but the ceiling is finished with a knock down coat. The other issue is my garage is not air conditioned but it is insulated so it gets rather warm in the summer and worse after you park your warm car in there too. The adhesive from Velcro that would stick to the ceiling separates. I have a cover to hide the HDMI cable to the ceiling that kept falling down so I had secure another way. I suppose you could use a sheet rock screw to hold the Velcro in place then they would hold. An expensive solution at $60 a panel. I actually used a staple gun on the wall panels so the stick would not fall off. I tried to move one and the adhesive from the Velcro to the wall ripped the paper off the sheet rock. A lesson learned, make sure you know where you want them. Since the panels are vinyl, make sure it is 55-60 degrees if you hit them with a ball. The wife hit a hosel rocket (yes it was her) and put a small cracked in the panel as she did not turn up the heat and it was 52 in the garage this winter. Hope this answers your question.

I think the best plan is that everyone posts photos of their garage build here and if they have a supporting link with more details of a prior thread you post the link. Then if someone is interested they can go directly and learn more.

I think it would be asking a lot for everyone in the forum to reproduce their build thread in here with all the description.....

Submitting photos and a link I think would be manageable.

My garage is a 3 3/4 car garage. The sim is on the back portion of one of the tandem stalls. I use the sim in a room dimension of 16 long, 12 ft high and 12.6 wide. I have to hit right of center and no lefty's. But it works for us.
I stole the idea for the club holders off of some forum ( I think here actually) and ordered fishing rod storage clips. Found the guy on ebay. I bought 40 clips for $30 from KDsports on ebay. They are perfect as I tried the pool cue holders and they did not work as well. A little wood strips from Home Depot and paint. Pleased with the outcome there.

Update on dimensions, 10'6" wide. So somewhat of a narrow space as to why hitting on the right side. Had to build the platform as the garage slab slopes down a little.

My sim builds: First picture was my first try in garage. Second is the evolved version built in the basement, transformed from home theatre.

Thanks for sharing. For your basement did you fix the ceiling to have another foot of height? If so how much did it cost?

My house is a concrete building, thus not able to alter the ceiling height. However there is a decorating veneer 6” under the concrete ceiling. After a budy scratched the veneer ceiling by his driver I took a part of the veneer off that cost not much. The net room height is now 9.18’.

Hey guys, with having some extra time on my hands I made a little modification to the sim floor for those garage sim owners. I added a golf ball rail to prevent the ball from rolling out of the sim then having to chase it down under a car in the garage. It was made be removing the 2x6 that was originally there, adding a 1x1, the a 2x4 so they were level and then put the 2x6 back in place. It gave me the space need to catch and hold any extra balls. It actually works as planned. Next is replacing the home depot indoor outdoor carpet that is there. The backing has started to fall apart so looking at options from teh Turf Factory direct. This will also allow me to get it more even then having the lip of where the hitting mat sits above. Hope that helps anyone in their builds.

I constructed my garage simulator so that I could dismantle quickly and easily and then park cars in the garage. I also needed to be able to setup quickly to play.

It's worked out well, so far. Screen dimension is 156"x108".

Here is the thread with all materials, cost and how I built it - https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...setup-complete

Here are a couple photos of my garage build. Based on a 10x9 size. I made it so it can be folded up when needed with some PVC hinges. Just got the projector installed today!

Do you have picture of it folded up? How easy is it to set up and take apart? About how long does it take?
