  • Anyone Using Large Screen TV Instead of Projecting? What's in the Bag?

Running MEVO+ with nine feet of flight, so I'm fairly close to my Net Return Pro.

To me, a projector / screen setup seems "clunky" for a fairly small space. I was inspired by a picture from a poster who put a 75" TV behind his Net Return Pro. I'm considering doing same, maybe going 86". (I have a secondary net in a heavy impact area of the screen.)

Anyone else do this? What TV specs should I look for to both PC hookup and Apple Play? Do you have your TV in traditional down-the-line view? Face-on? Two TVs to do both?

One word of caution...LED/QLED/LCD screens are VERY delicate! I initially setup my sim room where I was hitting into a net, then a 75" TV was setup perpendicular to the direction I was hitting.

About one week into this setup, I was hitting driver (I have a CCE mat where you can insert a real tee) and the wood tee flew up and struck the TV screen, and actually caused a 10" diameter spider crack, and completely ruined my TV!

Fortunately for me, Best Buy actually replaced the TV at no cost because it was less than 14 days old. I then bought a plexiglass screen protector from a local hardware store, which sat in front of the TV screen (about 4" gap). However, I was always super paranoid after that and ended up going the projector/impact screen route and am now 1000% happy!

I would be SO scared having a TV behind a net setup, fearing a ball going through the net, or even just the slack causing a ball to impact the TV. Just my $0.02

Thanks! Yes, I've weighed the risks. I'm not intent on hitting driver. Impact area of Net Return is almost three feet from wall, when base of the frame sits flush against the wall. I've got the secondary net for the Net Return, and I'm only nine feet from the net. I've gotten under lob wedges that have hit the frame at that distance but did not go over.

Admittedly considering replacing the Net Return with a curtain system sitting a foot from the wall for another couple feet of flight for the MEVO+.

I'm kinda doing the same setup. Would you mind posting a pic of your setup? Just curious as I'm afraid too of hitting one and it hitting my TV.

Currently, I'm only using foam balls but want to graduate to real. Funny that you said a tee was all it took.

Your tv may run interference with the Mevo+ radar. You might want to test that first.

I don't have a tv behind my net because my setup is mobile and outside, but years ago when my kids were little and we had a wii, I bought a plexiglass screen protector for my very first LCD TV for fear that the kids would accidentally throw the wii controller into the TV. I am sure that if you put something like that on it and kept a safe distance from the net to the monitor, it would be alright. I would also recommend getting a good and reliable net such as The New Return to protect your investment.

I would caution this set up as well and just note that I have seen someone that worked for me put a ball through the net return. Fortunately for him it was just damaged dry wall. The netting will fail over time. Also would a projector and screen not be way cheaper than the size of tv you are considering?

This is how I have mine. I don't have a projector. Just using a TV
