I have a protee on the way, so I’m getting the rest of my garage set up ready. I live in FL so I’m looking for some way to cool the area. I don’t think I’ll have a way to vent the hot air of a portable ac unit, so I don’t think that’ll work. They sell some robust tower fans, will something like that work? Will it have any effects on readings etc?

I live in SWFL and the garage does get hot. A friend just had a "split" installed in his garage for $2700.
He says it's great, keeps the garage at 85. Install took about 1/2 day. -
Depends on how large your garage is and height. You can install a DIY Mini-split system for less than that, but your sqft is what will determine what you will need as far as size of the unit. Also the higher the SEER rating on the unit, the more efficient it is and in turn, generally less money on your utility bills.Comment

A mini split would be ideal. Unfortunately most of my budget is spent. Which is why I’m thinking about some sort of fan solution for nowComment

Is this cooling for you or the cameras of the ProTee to work properly? Maybe one or some of those Dyson fans, not sure how powerful they areComment

Does your garage have a window that you could install a window AC unit in? I use that in my garage. I also have a gable vent and i put a window fan in front of it blowing the hot air out. Works quite well and cools of the garage fairly quickly.Comment

I was going to suggest something like Wbond did if you don't go t he AC route. Wonder if there is a way to vent the hot air that is in the garage outside? In my old garage set-up, I just opened the door up a bit and kept the door to the garage open (I don't have an attached garage) and this worked well (without doing this it just felt hot and stale in the garage). However, I think that adding a fan that vents the hot air out would work well as well. Won't be as nice as an AC unit, but would at least keep the temp close to what it is outside.Comment

I'm in the garage as well. I live VA but the humid summer day are torture. I vented my portable unit through a cut in the ceiling of garage.
I make a round cut and then fix a sleeve to secure the exhaust tubing. I can get the garage down into the 70s during the summer.Comment
