smallest space behind screen to wall

Hi guys/gals,

I'm trying to maximize my tight space and wondered what's the smallest space you'd plan for or feel comfortable with and not worry about rebounding. For reference, I have a Carl's premium screen and the back wall will have a 2" acoustic foam backing. I've heard as tight as 8". Every inch counts for me, so any opinions are welcome.

I’m just under 8 inches. I have netting backing the screen and 3 inch memory foam suspended behind that. Works great so far.
