  • Retractable Screen - HomeCourse vs SportScreen

Hi all - looking at building a sim setup in my 2 car garage but will still need to use it daily for our cars. So I need a movable / retractable setup. I've been doing some research and found 2 retractable screens. Are there any other options I need to review?

Let me know your pick and thoughts on the HomeCourse vs the SportScreen (DIY or Stealth Retractable Impact Projection Screen from Par2Pro).

    Thanks!

the homecourse is one size and looks somewhat cheesy. The par2 pro can go any size you want but can run some bucks to get a complete setup. You can also buy direct from thesoprtsscreen but then you have to figure out how you are going to mount it. They also will not help you with the setup.

Would love to see details and pictures. I am in the middle of deciding an EMT screen near the garage wall or the sportscreen near the garage wall. This might be a better option. I am on a tight budget.

How wide a screen are u able to accommodate? What r your dimensions of garage. I gave retractable great consideration for my garage. My wife purchased it for me as birthday gift however there was a problem with shipment and vendor had no more inventory. I ended up getting a refund and eventually settled on EMT conduit. I too need to occasionally park a car in the bay but have found that the screen setup was not the obstacle to parking but rather the hitting surface and flooring you choose. The Homecourse is great concept however consider that it is only 8 feet wide and $2K. If I were to go retractable in a garage I would definitely do the sports screen with the retractable side barriers. When I did the calculations seem to recall sports screen and side barriers was still less than Homecourse.

I’m in the middle of building a DIY screen using EMT and a tubular motor. Similar screen to Carl’s place that the group buy was doing is like $300. EMT + motor will cost about $140. Seems worth a shot to save all that $$$.

I built the supports for the EMT using unistrut that spans the garage. Used threading rods to support it in the middle.

Could you send links for the things you used, especially the motor?

Right now I’m testing out this one because I had a couple from making blinds at home. https://www.amazon.com/Rollerhouse-E...2618897&sr=8-3

the torque rating is very small, but I ordered one on eBay that can lift like 100 pounds and is 13 or 16nm vs 0.5. I would use the cheaper amazon one to do the side netting. Basically I can tie everything to a remote, and then one button push can bring down the screen and net. Planning to get the netting material from rosebrand as I have already bought a lot of production bulk fabrics from them in the past.

once the screen comes in I can do a test and show you some pictures if needed.

I was in your shoes and did all the same research. In the end I did the Stealth Elite. I can tell you that the quality of all the materials purchased via Par2Pro was very good and the hidden benefit is you get to talk over your setup with someone at Par2Pro which was a big help. It is quite expensive for what you get, but if you want the help in design opinions and a real turnkey solution then I would really recommend going with this.

If you want a partial turnkey solution and to save money, I would buy direct from thesportsscreen the two side panels and front and then i would buy my own screen and sew in the velcro. I never did the math, but I think there would be savings. Also the ceiling netting you can use a cheaper alternative, but again the quality of Par2Pro is top notch.

I decided to go with quality because I thought there is a lot of value in only having to take 1 car out of the garage and having confidence that the ball would not cross over to my wife' s car. For example Par2Pro also sells side connectors to connect the front screen to the side panels so ball will not go thorugh the 1 inch crack.

Ive had previous posts with photos so feel free to look!

I just found this video today that may help with a cheaper solution (if you want to save some cash).
              Very detailed Video also.

I had the same situation as you several years ago.
Setting up a sim in my garage, but still able to get cars in.
3rd version link here. Been using this one for about 2 years now, and still really happy with it.

I’ve been golfing in my garage for a little over 4 and a half years. In this time I’ve been continually evolving my setup - with this being the third “restart”. I have 2 other build threads kicking about on this site. My V2 build thread can be found here: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/build-your

I wanted something cheap, easy to put away so I can pull in cars and functional. I sacrificed quality of image. I bought a smaller sportscreen direct from vendor (plan to also double for hockey when my boy is older), layered a carl's screen on top of that, cheap 5000 lumen 1080 projector from Amazon, 12x 8 cheap turf from Menards, cheap 3x5 CCE hitting mat from Costco (I am not a member), canvas tarp draped at top to catch wedges, photography backdrops on left and right strung by ropes for the sides. All done to keep price down so I could get the Mevo +. I can leave the hitting mat in place and roll/retrack the rest in about 5 min. I can get prices if interested, but I think all the expensive stuff was about $200 each.

I was just looking for options for the side curtains and found this video. Looks like it would work pretty well and be pretty inexpensive.
