  • Completed QED Home Build

I am about 95% done with my home build. I had a previous thread which was more to ask questions, etc... But wanted to start fresh to organize the details of finished product. This has been a dream of mIne and something I have spent a lot of time planning over the last year - with a lot of help from the people and content of this forum. I am excited to share and elaborate in greater detail with more pictures for others who want to get ideas and learn. I will look to add more pictures to answer any questions.
    • 13’ wide x 13’ deep x 10’ high space
    • Uneekor QED Ignite w/ TGC19
    • Epson Pro L1100U Refurbished w/ ELPLU04 lens
      • After hours on forum and ProjectorCentral I opted to mount behind tee, just below and behind the QED bar
    • Vant Panels all around instead of curtains (just about killed myself hanging them overhead over 2 days, but the wife is happy with the “finished” look)
    • Rymar Turf (they do Uneekor PGA show booths and were recommended)
    • Carl’s Premium Screen 9.5’ x 12.5’ (bought on clearance, pre-finished with grommets)
    • iBUYPOWER Gaming PC - i7-9700F GeForce GTX 1660 16 GB RAM
    • Sony STR-DH790 7.2 AVR
      • Projector and PC run through the AVR
      • 7.1 surround sound runs through also... 3 speakers and sub behind screen, 4 surround in ceiling

This looks fantastic. How are the acoustics? Do the panels do a nice job at muffling sounds from the impact of the screen?

Thank you. I definitely think they help although I have noting to compare to... also have the premium screen from Carl’s which also reportedly muffled considerably. No one complains except when I hit driver! LOL
I’ve been having more fun working on my wedge game anyway... spend most of my time out at the Masters Par 3 course

Love the vant panel look. That is the plan in my head for when I get to build my sim.

Jeeve - Looks awesome!! I was following your last thread because I am doing something very similar. I'm finishing off my basement and have a 12'-8" wide room for my simulator. I'm planning on the Uneekor QED with 2 rows of Vant panels on the walls and ceiling. I'm using 1" EVA foam instead of Dri-Core... I was actually torn between the two. I'm planning on ordering the Vant panels this week and have been trying to decide which fabric. I have a bunch of samples and I'm leaning towards the Jet Black Leather. Which finish did you go with?

Looks fantastic Jeeve, keep an eye on the Vant discounts 20% off regular sales. Sign up for their email promotions. They have proven to be very durable and work well in the sim.

Looks Great! Are you able to hit from the center of the mat/screen?

So the QED is mounted perfectly Center on the 13’ width of the space, however the hitting area as calibrated definitely favors a right hander... i put magic marker dots on my hitting mat to reference when playing. If you were to stand in the middle of the 13’ and swing driver, very high probability you’d clip the wall behind you. So I always tee it up as far right as I can.
My buddy is lefty, when he comes over the QED doesn’t pick up as much to the left of center as it does to the right... so he is uncomfortably close to the wall (and monitor) behind.
In an ideal world i would have liked much more width.

jeeve5 I had a question about the Vant panels. Are they a full 2.5" thick even near the edges? I am asking because my space is fixed dimensions so the panels won't end up making perfect corners.

For example on your build with 13' (156") wide ceilings and what looks like 13 rows of 11.5" panels, the panels would take up 149.5", leaving 6.5" of space, or 3.25" on each side. Is that correct?

And then on the side-walls that are 10' high (120") you have 10 rows of 11.5" high panels, so panels would take up 115", mount them 1" off the floor that gets them to 116", so there is 4" to the roof. Is that correct?

Is there a noticeable space in the corner? Will a ball fit through it? I didn't see anything in the pictures but thought it might look different in person.

      Thanks in advance!
