  • New Sim build projector and positioning help (UK)

    Hi All

I have been following this Forum for a long time and purchased p3eps old V2 build from him around 2 years ago now and due to moving house twice in a year I finally am getting round to settling and to kit out my double garage. The space I have is 5.36m x 5.11m (17.7ft x 16.9ft). However the frame and hitting net/screen size is 3m wide by 2.7 high. I am thinking of hitting around about 8-9ft away from the screen(can go slightly closer or further back) Where would you position the projector as I am struggling to know whether it should be behind me or in front taking into account the swing space needed and it not interfering with swing and also shadow of player.
ceiling height through the middle will be 3m but possibly lower at the back behind the golfer (after swing distance)

recommendations on location and also projector recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Without getting into the specifics measurement wise, if the projector is mounted above or just ahead of the golfer you will avoid creating a shadow of the golfer and the projector will be more or less out of harm's way.
Because the projector is mounted on the centerline of the hitting area it should not be in the swing path arc. The highest point of the swing path is well away from the center line of the hitting area as it is behind the golfer.
In general the hitting area is about 10 feet away from the impact screen so a projector "throw distance" of 7 - 10 feet should work well.
