    Fold-up Gym Mats for Ceiling Protection?

    What do you guys think of using fold up gym mats to use as ceiling protection? Would it have a scary bounce back? It’s almost simulator season again and I need to change out my hanging tarp that collects balls on top, blocks about 2 feet of the simulator screen and looks terrible.

      The ball will be heading toward the screen so it’ll only bounce toward the screen.

              I am about to use the same exact mats in black. did you use them? if so how did you screw them into the ceiling? a washer and drywall screw?

                  I would venture a guess that you'd only need to go out to about 50-60* launch angle from the screen(and that's being overly cautious, unless you tee driver to the moon and can completely undercut one). The closer you are to the screen, the less mats you'll need up above. If your ceiling height is 9-10' and you're about the same distance from the screen, 2 rows of mats from the screen should be plenty.

                      Another option would be some foam panels, I've got premade Vant panels I ordered and some custom vant ones I made myself to fill the irregular spaces.

                      It's an option for DIY (or purchased) vant panels: Home Depot/Menards/Lowe's: 1/2" 2 side sanded plywood(usually marine grade), Fabric store: black velvet cloth, 1" hobby foam, Amazon: Beau clips, a staple gun and a drill. It was pretty easy, cost effective and it works... There's additional directions out here in the sim build area for the DIY...
