Hi all. I have a dedicated sim room in my house that is 16 x16 room with 10 foot ceilings. Wife and dogs not happy with driver swings. Anybody have any suggestions for killing the sound and not the wife or dogs?π

Sound deadening advice for Sim Room?

There was a pretty long discussion on this issue three or four years ago. I donβt know what the resolution was for the issue, but one of the things that the OP of the thread discovered was that the sound of the ball striking his impact screen was actually higher than the sound of his driver (he tested this and posted the results).
Based on this, perhaps one place to start might be your screen and seeing if you can back it with something that might deaden the sound off the screen. Depending on what you use, it could also help on softening the sound of the driver at impact. Another thing you could try is those cheap foam acoustical panels. They might not do much with the different frequencies from a sound system, it might be enough to soften the sound of your room a bit. For me, perhaps starting g with your screen might be a good option.

It's a really tall order to soundproof a room from the rest of the house, especially from the loud crack of a driver against ball. Much has been written about it in general, lots of guides out there: https://www.google.com/search?q=how+...ndproof+a+room- Ron at GunghoGolf.com - we specialize in TrackMan, FlightScope, Foresight, Uneekor, SkyTrak, Garmin, Bushnell, TGC, and E6 Connect. 512-861-4151 or email hello AT gunghogolf.com.

Yes it is GungHoGolf ! Which is exactly why my wife, when she heard how loud the sound is at a local Simulator Bar, told me that 'you will not have that in our house'.
I've been back/forth about where to put it, but I think I've finally settled on my Shed. It's completely outside the house... though it's taking quite some time to get it to the point where I can start hitting balls.

The only thing you can do that will work is install resilient channels under drywall with roxul insulation in the walls. It'll basically sound proof the room.My Courses:

Open cell foam insulation in the ceiling/wall/floor, Green Glue with double drywall, solid wood door with canvas curtain to pull across the door to keep sound from the doorway. Commando cloth draped across top of the enclosure.
it will take a lot of work to get the sound down, especially if on the main level (non basement).
