I'm in the process of building a new home and I have an area in the basement that is 15'4" x 13'5" x 10' in which I am planning out a simulator area. I'm thinking of going with a Carl's Pro enclosure along with a Uneekor QED. I'm wondering about the depth of the enclosure specifically. Uneekor recommended that the tee area be 10 feet away from the screen with the Uneekor mounter 3 feet behind that. I am thinking that 5 feet between the hitting area and start of the enclosure might be a bit much when I think of the wife or kids hitting down there and containing shanks but don't want to fill the entire room with an enclosure. Any thoughts?

You can hang some padding or something on the side wall. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. It's pretty tough to miss an enclosure from 5 feet away.
I think your bigger concern might be only having less than 5 feet behind the ball to the back wall. You'll have to leave some room behind the screen, so you might only be leaving yourself with 4.5 feet or so from ball to back wall, which is super tight.

How close do you suppose you could get to the screen before worrying about balls bouncing back into you? My plan is to go with the premium screen from Carls.Originally posted by 3on3putt View PostYou can hang some padding or something on the side wall. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. As long as you're able to achieve the most minimal amount of bounce back, you don't have to worry about balls coming back and hitting you. I hit from just over 7 feet away. Wedges spin up and hit the roof of the enclosure and drop down. Short irons spin up the screen and may come back at me a bit but they're traveling really soft and slow at that point. It's not like anything rockets back at you.
Just make sure to leave enough room between you and the enclosure so that you don't risk hitting it on your follow through. The height generally isn't an issue but if it's not super wide and you're hitting from only a couple feet away (like hitting 7 feet from the screen on a 5 foot enclosure) you could conceivably hit the left side of the enclosure. Or at the least, it will make for a very cramped feeling. I initially was going to do a 5 foot deep enclosure but opted for 2.5 feet after feeling like the 5 foot depth was going to be in the way when I was hitting from only 7 feet.
If you only anticipate having righties in there, you can have the right side of the enclosure extend further than the left side. That allows for shank protection on the right while also freeing up the left side for your follow through.
