  • Wall Mounted impact Screen. How to?

I have a 15.2’ x 10’ wall that I’m considering wall mounting a 14.5’ x 9.5’ raw edge screen onto. Anyone here that has successfully mounted a screen to wall with good results? Would like the screen to hang around 8-10” off wall. Unistrut with tarp clamps and ball bungee cords for tension? Open to any suggestions you might have. Thanks!

Can you mount angle iron to the side walls and ceiling? If so that would be the easiest.

Angle iron on sides and ceiling, tarp clips with ball bungees holding screen. Fill gaps on sides and top with wedge-shaped foam, continue back 4-5 ft with foam panels to protect walls and ceiling. Ideally build flooring up 1-2" so bottom of screen can just be tensioned on the bottom corners with its edge hidden behind flooring so nothing to impact with ball on bottom edge.

Yeah, that’s a great idea gents with the bracing on the sidewalls and ceiling. Thanks for that. Although I’m not big on the raised floor. Can I leave the screen free hanging on the floor? Or do I need more angle iron running across the floor to secure the screen to?

Anyone have links to the referenced wedge shaped foam and wall panels?

Free-hanging screen on floor works but isn't esthetically pleasing, and balls can still sneak under. If bottom edge is tensioned well, you could get by with another foam wedge at bottom, or just put something behind screen on floor to take the impact for the rare ball that passes under.

https://foamforyou.com/ will cut any size and shape of foam you need, just call them, ask for Alba, tell her Ron at GungHoGolf sent ya. I like their charcoal acoustic foam for this purpose. For the walls I order 1" thick, flat, with beveled edges, in whatever shape/size you want.

Awesome. Thanks Ron, I’ll def let them know your refd me. How much gap do you recommend on the left and right of the screen from screen to angle iron; so the bungees are tensioned correctly?

            About 3-4"

Does anyone have a closeup of the bungees to angle iron? I think I'm missing the picture in my head. Won't the bungees tear going through the anle iron holes ?

Why angle iron over unistrut? I have basically the same size room and want to do the same as devildog.

I can't picture how the bungle balls attach to angle iron.

I think unistrut is the answer here, because of the holes where the bungee cord can attach to. I’m still working a solution for the bottom. I really don’t want to run a piece of unistrut across the floor and have to cover it with padding.

For those that use angle iron, do you use wall anchors for the screws. I’m not lucky enough to have where I need to mount screen line up with studs

Based on what I have read, and just in general I would say yes, you will need anchors if no studs available.

I just did this at my buddies house on the weekend. I bolted 2x4's around the perimeter to the wall and then added spacers to get to 10 inches and 2x4's again then added the slotted angle iron and bungees to that. Worked great. I used curtains on the sides and a panel on top.

Did you run angle iron across the ceiling and floor as well? To tension the screen top to bottom.

The ceiling is 10 feet and the screen is 9. The angle iron is on the frame at 9 feet.
