I am awaiting my simulator but have been swinging clubs in the sim room for practice. I have a putting green surface on the floor and a 4 x 5 mat that sits on top of the putting green. I have noticed that after a few swings the mat moves forward. I can put carpet tape down but I’m concerned about ruining the putting green surface which cost a lot of money. I was thinking Velcro or carpet tape? Any help or ideas are much appreciated

How to prevent the mat from moving

Joe. I’m purchasing putting surface now to cover a 15’ x 15’ space. What turf did you go with? Are you happy with it? Any reason why you don’t cut out the turf where the hitting mat is, so it’s recessed in? Thanks!

I bought the following golf mat and also had problems with it moving (but I'll explain what I did):
5 Star 5x5 Gorilla Perfect ReACTION URETHANE BACKED Golf Mat
I also put down a piece of non-directional playground turf to cover my wood flooring between the screen and the hitting mat. When I put the mat on the turf, it moved around a lot just by walking on it. As a result, I cut a 5x5 section out of the non-directional turf so that the hitting mat fits perfectly in the cutout. Unfortunately, the urethane backing was not very grippy on its own so I bought non-slip carpet pad from Home Depot and it fixed the movement problem. I've hit 1000 shots off of the mat as it is and have not had to reposition it at all.
The mat was available with a 5/8 inch pad which I would have purchased but I thought I would be using the mat on a carpeted floor. In the end, I took over my daughters' play room which has bamboo flooring.
