  • Garage sim build.

Finally moving forward with my sim garage build. Leaning towards Mevo+ over Skytrak because my daughter is a lefty and I have the room. My 3 car garage is roughly 32' wide by about 23' deep. Along my back wall is an inset almost 10' wide (119" to be exact) by 7' deep. I want to use this area as my screen and go 4x3. Im concerned that the mevo+ will work with that inset like that. I have plenty of depth. From the inset back I have 30' to the garage door. I tried to update a picture but I must not be smart enough to figure it out.

Was able to get image uploaded. Hope it helps to explain my setup. Thanks.

Those florescent lights behind could be a problem, but I've seen plenty of builds where people frame in a screen from the wall which is similar to what that you have going on there. Looks like a great and easy spot to put your screen.

Planning on installing a led spotlight over my hitting area and turning off the lights in the picture. Those lights are actually LED as well. Converted them from floursecent.

That looks like a great spot since you can hit to the center and have plenty of room behind both L and R hand players, you can ditch the lights in there, mount angle iron to the sides and top to mount the screen and then do something on the sides for shank protection.

Where do you intend to place the ball in the room? Would your ball be just right of the white car's front tire?

Start there, and swing a driver. An adult comfortably swings with about 8' forward/backward/behind the ball. Test it yourself. That's 16' front to back with 8' behind. Some will argue the "comfortable" measurement and say they really only hit the wall at 6'. Some need more. But, we sometimes have a practice swing in our routine.

With a 23' depth, you have an opportunity for a large retractable screen with two retractable side screens. It takes 4 minutes to pull two cars out, drop the 3 screens, and launch the software for play. Cars will have to be removed anyway.

23'=1'(for impact) +11' (ball to screen) + 10'(ball to sensor) + 1'(mevo to garage door). You could make a fixed position for the mevo+ if there is a center divider between garage doors for each bay, .

That is a great idea. I will definitely measure some more to see how that would work for me. I would love to go bigger and I have the space for sure. What mats are you using in your setup?

            Fiberbuilt.
Short version: I called and sent a drawing for a custom combo mat. They sent a diagram matching my request. I signed and returned the proof, paid, and it arrived to be assembled.

My plan required some cuts to their stance mat and their basemat plugs.

Our vehicles' tires straddle the 3x4 mats when we pull in. Easy to miss a 3' wide mat while driving in to park. When its game time, I slide each 3x4 mat toward the stationary putting and hitting strip.

The shaggy artificial grass is from amazon. It stays in place and we drive and park on it. It has been without issue for over a year.

Let me know if you want the fiberbuilt plan. Its a 3x10 putting surface combined with a 9x4 stance mat. The stationary part is then 3'x14' between vehicles when the stance mat is separated for parking purposes.

Since the Mevo+ is radar unit, the more distance for ball flight the better. FS says 8ft Mevo+ to ball is ideal, I would suggest 13 ft ball to screen and 8ft ball to Mevo+ and use indoor mode. I run 7/13 ft in indoor mode and have been very happy with the results

Thanks for the updated ball flight requirements. I misspoke on the ideal ball placement. He has more space than I wrote.

One nice thing about his setup is the 10' wide space that allows for him to place his screen further away from the garage doors. There isn't a wall to hit near the center of the impact screen. The fabric rolling over the front of the sportscreen tube keeps it off the wall by 4" already. I can't imagine getting much more than 8" of screen deflection on a shank shot that hits anywhere near the last 3' of screen on the right or left.
