Middle bar?

Hi all,

So flying along in my build and first problem encountered...

I had planned to have a middle bar due to width (14 feet).

My plan had been to hang screen in back of the frame - but wont the ball drill the middle pole and fly out?
No idea how I didn't think of this....

Appreciate any guidance/help.

I wouldn't recommend that bar down the middle. You'll hit that a lot and it will wear down your impact screen, not to mention the bounce back. I would try to find a different way to support the the top bar. Maybe running a 3/4" 6 or 8 foot piece of EMT inside the top bar - centered and running through both pieces of EMT where it's joined? I have a 13' wide frame (the exact same as yours) without any supports and it is just fine so it shouldn't take much. There is a bit of sag in mine but nothing crazy.

Ya worried about that - but trying to avoid any sag.... How have others done them this wide?

I don’t have a middle bar and no sag. But I have a 12 feet width frame, so not sure how much of a difference the extra two feet would make

Thanks for the replies everyone. Current plan is to just remove the one middle bar and cover the now protruding some holes unused connector piece with foam as to not rip screen at bottom (screen will be below at top I think so not a problem). Having a hard time finding emt fitting in Canada as I'd like to replace bottom one eventually with the 2 way splicer. Tarps.com and A1 tarps don't seem to allow me to ship to canada - does anyone know where one could get these here?

You can add a middle bar or two to prevent sag with EMT and the right connectors - just use T connectors in the main top and bottom bars where you want them, then a short 12-18" bar off those towards the back, then L connectors for the middle bars (which will then be 12-18" behind screen and safe from impact). I did that with my current 16x9' enclosure.

Sounds like a good idea. Thanks Ron. Have a pic of it by any chance? I still can't find EMT fittings individually in Canada either - know anywhere one could order?
