  • Best way to hang netting from ceiling

Hi guys I'm building a sim in my garage and right now I'm just planning on hanging the impact netting from the ceiling. I have 2 10x10 pieces of impact netting and was looking for some ideas how to hang it. Is there a certain way that will help it absorb impact best? I was thinking just getting a few of those screw in J hooks but if there's better ways I'd like to hear what you guys have done.

I don't have netting but mesh tarp hung from ceiling that drapes behind impact screen.

Definitely get a 2x4 board, and go across the joists, unless there's no drywall installed. Hang as needed from there. I don't really know what effect you're trying to achieve or what layout you have, so more info on the build will help tremendously.

Nothing too complicated. Just a net to stop the ball. No screen or anything for a projector. I just don't want to ball rebounding like crazy so didn't know if installing on a cable or using bungies would be better than just hanging it from hooks

If the net is for 'impact', just make sure to leave recoil room behind the net, as it will likely be forced backwards from the ball. I would hang from a board with eyehooks and possibly string a metal chain on the bottom of the netting to create enough resistance to take the impact properly. If you have a lot of netting furled up at the bottom, usually that's enough weight, but for a small net that barely reaches the ground, bungees or weight of some kind will be necessary.

I used a cable, eye bolts, and carabiner clips. Click image for larger version

Resurrecting an old thread here but I'm curious what size carabiners you went with?

I like it and that is what I will be using. easy to move out of the way in my old 1940's "wish it was bigger" garage.
