Summary of my Sim build on the cheap. Happy to share what has worked well and some challenges. If i factored in my time for research I think I could have a Trackman and a new building for a sim.
Craigslist and Ebay are your friend.
$100, Frame ¾” EMT Conduit and fittings from Makerpipe.com. Most people use 1” but my ¾ is holding up an impact screen, net and two layers of moving blankets with no issue. It also folds up
$50, Impact screen, bleached drop cloth from Harbor Freight and a sewing machine from Craigslist (CL)
$50 I had the net and moving blankets but add another $50
$125, Projector, Benq MX 819ST short throw, Ebay
$20, Projector floor cover, some plywood, cheap grizzly grass carpet and two pc cooling fans. This was a huge savings. The amount they want for these covers is ridiculous. Happy to share my design
Hitting area;
$100 Mat, I had the mat but it is nothing special
$30 mat surround, ½ carpet tiles, CL great deal.
$20, hitting strips, 2x4x1/4 inch plywood and 1 linear foot of putting green from Home Depot. $20 makes five strips. Still on my first one and it is holding up great. Need to cut the wood and glue the turf. Again happy to help
$300, PC and Monitors, CL baby. Software Co. moving off shore. I7 processor three monitors and stand. I will need to upgrade graphics card.
$200, Swing capture camera system, Kinovia software which is free, two Kayeton cameras. The system captures both facing and down the line swings at 120 frames per second. It will not freezer club head at impact but is a good tool to look at how you are swinging the club. You open Kinovia twice one for recording and one for playback. You can watch your swing automatically after your shot.
