  • Low-Key Dining Room (currently Gym) Golf Sim (Mevo+)

    Hi there,

Interested in building a sim for Mevo+, already have a custom 10x10x10 hitting cage outside (pic for your inspiration). Room specs are 16 W x 10 H x 19 L. Since this is a (dining) room with a view, I'd prefer not to have too much hardware around, so ideally curtains/angle brackets and no steel cages. Expect to use a 4K laser projector with 4k+ Lumens, and E6 Connect via 2080Ti Gaming PC. Main goal is to be as "clean" as possible, while providing shank/ceiling/window protection.

    Thanks for any ideas!

Something like this would seem nice. Anyone have experience?

Thanks, Ron, I'll give you a call.

That room is a nice size for a simulator. Are you wanting a full time simulator space or are you looking to have things you can easily move out of the way so you can use that space for other things as well?

I’d love to keep the gym on the side for now, and potentially revert the room to a dining room down the line, but I would prefer to have a clean setup with minimal moving pieces. I expect the sim to last several years so I prefer a custom build vs a net return pro xl with a screen in front (even though that’s super appealing). Expect all cables hidden etc. I don’t mind putting in quite some work if I can get a professional looking sim in return.

This is the room, without the gym equipment.

Finally got it all done. Had to wait 10 weeks for the projector, and most the time went into the hidden cabling / drywall work (PCs are in basement, and no attic access above projector). This is a 100% DIY custom home theatre sim + gym that rivals any golf sim or movie theater out there. Mevo+ Pro package is great, even putting works fine since on same height as the hitting mat.

Features: 14ft wide impact screen, 10-inch ceiling, 4K laser projector (no shadow even when standing as close as 5ft to the screen), 5.1 surround sound, OLED TV, no PC and no receiver in the room, no visible cables. Can watch TV while playing golf on the sim, with sound for both. Hitting turf can be rolled up in 5 seconds to turn the sim into a gym. Both the TV and the projector can display one of 6 sources that are all in the basement: Xfinity Cable TV, UHD Blu-Ray, 4 different computers (1 dedicated for sim), KVM switch in basement for HDMI 4k and USB 3.0. Everything is remote-controlled either by RF remote or by Cell Phone app via WiFi->IR blaster.
