  • UK Cabin, bounce back issues

Hello - First time poster, long time lurker.

After 11 months, I finally finished my golf/gym cabin. As I am in the UK I took the option of going underground to get the extra height, without need planning permission, plus I didn't want it to be too big. However after getting reported by a nosey neighbour it appeared to 6cm higher than allowed, and 6 months later......yes it was painfull (time & money), I finally got planning permission. So I am really happy with the building itself, however what I thought would be the 'easy' bit was the golf simulator set-up.

I have a 3.85mx2.85m PRO impact screen bought from GolfBays UK. I initially hung it up with just a golf net behind and got too much bounce back. I then put two memory foam toppers behind, as suggested by many on the forum. This works great for anything up to a 9iron. When I hit my PW it will literally come back at me head height. I have tried moving the toppers directly against the screen, on the wall, and in the middle - all with the same result. Without the impact screen up, I get virtally zero bounce back. I have put the screen up only attached to the top via bungees and no tension horizontally and yet I still get the ball bouncing at my head (see last photo).

Any advice would be much appreciated, getting quite frustrated.

Good impact screen doesn't need any backing, and shouldn't have excessive bounce-back when tensioned just tight enough to be flat and without wrinkles. Our Birdie and Eagle impact screens bounce back only 3-4 ft max before they hit the floor with all clubs in the bag.

Your issue could be due to the impact screen itself, or due to the backing. It certainly doesn't look like excess tension is the problem, so I'd try it without backing.

Thanks Ron, I will revert to that option again and see how it goes.
