Hey all - my house is being built, and the flooring subcontractor they used, "didn't know why" I wanted 1/4" plywood underneath my 1" foam and turf (TFD putting elite), so they just skipped it and glued everything down. So, now, if I'm going to install my country club elite mat real feel mat for the hitting strip, as planned, there will be a pretty substantial drop off, from the 1.75" hitting strip, to the TFD putting elite (7/16") on 1" EVA tiles (1.4375 total). I'm trying to avoid going to war with the contractor, if I can, and asking them to tear the whole thing up and redo it (we're supposed to close on the house on Monday). Is there a really good 1.5" hitting strip out there that I should consider instead? Does anyone else have that much of a dropoff from hitting mat to turf and feel that that's okay? Or should I go to war? I have written documentation of where I asked them specifically for 1/4" subfloor, so it's pretty clear that they messed up.

Flooring installed to wrong height (1.5")- what to do with 1.75" CCE hitting strip?

I have the soft strike mat that is 1.5” it may be listed at 1 & 5/8 but mine is 1.5” exactly. Jay at golf simulator videos helped me get from an HD golf rep.

Hey Travrav40 - how are you liking the Soft Strike? I've been considering it as well... hard to tell from video, maybe you can help. Is there a gap in the front of that mat to allow for the 'spring action' and does it cause a 'bump' or ball hop if you putt it from anywhere on that mat? Just curious? Other than that looks amazing.

I'd go to war anyway but that's just coming from a fellow contractor who hates it when tradesmen can't be bothered to make a phone call when it doesn't make sense to them.
As far as hitting strip options go, you might look at GungHo Golf's holy grail - not entirely solid on the dimensions off the top of my head but it's made to fit in 1" EVA tiles with turf on top.

Try using the GunghoGolf Holy Grail. Best mat I've used, easier on the wrists & elbows, accurately reflects fat shots (regardless of my earlier stupid comments (hmm, i should go edit those) when I thought I was hitting from a Holy Grail and it turned out to be a chunk of CCE, long story, I'll stop now) In any case, it's 1.375" tall so it's only 1/16" shorter, dimensions can be customized for width/length.
