So I purchased the holy grail hitting mat about 10 months ago, it staring to get a groove in the middle, I was wondering if anyone else is having a issue or if there's another mat they would recommend.

I’m starting to wonder about the quality of the holy grail mat and also the stand alone hitting strips. I started off
with the holy grail hitting strip (started to get waves in it after only a few months, and the turf was separating from the plastic part it was glued to. Emailed gung ho about it, sent pics of the defective strip and they sent me a new one. Fast forward a few months and I ended up ordering the 4x5 holy grail mat. The section where is folds up, is starting to sink down which doesn’t feel normal. Have not contacted gung ho about it yet though. So I love it, but it does have some quality control issues, imo.

I was considering ordering the 4x5 HG but may opt to get a different stance mat and cut an opening to accommodate the hitting strip. I would absolutely hate having a stance mat that sags. I can understand that thousands of strikes may cause wear and tear on a hitting strip but would expect a stance mat to maintain its structural integrity. I do like hitting off the HG strip from a real-feel perspective.

As far as Stance Mats go, this one is a reasonable price and seems to be very resilient and the same height as the Holy Grail:
It looks like the 5x5 is unavailable at this time, here's the 4x5:

Do you still have this mat? Did you ever contact them about the sinking issue? Was looking at this mat, although I wish they had something just a touch bigger for launch monitor placement to the side without having to step up to the much larger mat for LH or RH hitting.Originally posted by Sixmudd View PostI’m starting to wonder about the quality of the holy grail mat and also the stand alone hitting strips. I’ve got a HG hitting strip and, even after flipping it around, it still has taken on a depression of sorts and the ball doesn’t stay in one place - rolls a bit to another.
Moving soon and am contemplating a different hitting strip.
My setup now, I’ve laid down foam tiles and MoneyPutt turf on top. I cut out sections for my hitting strip and the SwingCatalyst pressure plate. Problem with this setup, apart from the sagging, is the SwingCatalyst and hitting strip I use are fixed in one place. Since I currently can’t use a driver at home, it is placed for irons and wedges. New home has plenty of space for Driver, so I may require a much larger hitting section to make sure I can always use the plate.
The positive with the HG strip is no pain in the joints.

So far I've had a fiberbuilt and holy grail mat. I prefer the feel of the holy grail but like everyone else I have gotten low spots on the mat that the ball likes to collect in. This also happened with the fiberbuilt but the holy grail did seem to get these low spots quicker and it affects the ball more as the surface is smooth compared to the fiberbuilt bristles.
Anyone have a recommendation for a mat that feels similar to the holy grail but is more durable?
