  • Impact Screen Size Help

I need some help from the wise people here. This is my first attempt at building a simulator enclosure.

My space is 10’6” wide and 8’9” high. I’m planning on building the enclosure to 8’ H x 10’ W.

To fit a 4:3 aspect ratio I’d need to go 7’7” H x 10’ W. My question is would this be too wide for the impact screen and not allow me to pull it tight enough with ball bungees to get a good picture quality? Is there another size that would make more sense?

      Jasonreg,
Thanks for the reply. I’m probably not clear in my question. I’m mainly looking to understand the physical dimensions of the impact screen compared to the enclosure versus image resolution.

I’ve seen some things say that the impact screen should be ~12” smaller than the dimensions of the enclosure and others that I’ve talked to have purchased theirs at the same or close to the same as the enclosure size.

All good. I guess what I would do is source the largest screen available for the opening avail. Note you do not necessarily need an exact screen size as many use tarp clips to adjust to the space they have or to use raw (unfinished) screens. 6" on each side is ideal, I would not go smaller than 3-4" from edge of screen to attach point, and yes use tarp clips and bungees if possible. I would just attach the screen to each side wall rather than build out an enclosure in this case.

NJT22 for a rpace that small, ditch the enclosure and have the screen go wall to wall. Hang some curtains or put up foam pads on the wall and you're good to go. The walls of the room IS the enclosure!
