  • Simulator Ceiling lift

I am converting my bonus room into a golf simulator. The bonus room sits above the garage, and both the garage and bonus room are additions to the original house. The bonus room is roughly 24' X 16' with 4 dormers. I used a 3D floorplan modeling website to try and show what it looks like(see photos). When we purchased the house three years ago, the bonus room was completely unfinished. This gave us access to the ceiling, floor, and behind the walls. The room has cathedral style ceilings but the dormers have flat ceilings (see photos.) In the center of the room, the ceiling height is 8 feet. That is the height of the truss system that spans the length of the room. We are about to have the drywall installed but before doing so I lifted the ceiling just above where the hitting zone, and where the protee VX will be mounted. I installed a new truss system over this span that is about 9.5ft high. I have overengineered the hell out of it thinking more support is better than less.

My questions are, is my room going to sag, lean, or fail completely?

I included some real photos of the area I lifted. It is hard to see what is going on.
Has anybody attempted this before on a similarly shaped room?
Did you have any issues down the road? I feel like this last truss I want to remove could be a pivotal one.
Reminder; everything that I have taken out was replaced 2 feet higher, plus I added horizontal support to prevent swaying.

I appreciate everybody in here who takes on a project like this.

    Play well
