  • My GSA CX2 experience with the golf club

I have had the CX2 system for quite a while. Overall Martin at GSA is excellent to deal with. He answers emails within a reasonable amount of time and is very helpful. GSA's website is a little overwhelming at first. There are so many different configurations to choose from.
If you have a good computer, GSA's systems run very fast with very little delay before the ball flies. I have a buddy who is a scratch golfer and plays a big draw on his irons. My 2 camera CX2 system picks up my buddies draws very well considering that it is calculating ball spin. The next upgrade will be the CTS Color club tracking system. For $1999 it is a little steep directly after purchasing TGC. I didn't add a club tracking camera to my system because I didn't like the idea of putting tracking dots on all of my clubs. GSA's new CTS doesn't need tracking dots.

My computer is i7 2600k at 3.4Ghz, 16 gigs ram, GTX 680 vid card. USB 3.0 is a must for high speed cameras. My system was not stable until I added the USB 3.0 cards. I know the cameras are USB 2.0.... it just runs more stable plugged into 3.0. In hindsight a preconfigured computer may have save me some frustration. GSA now offers remote access support. I used it once and it only took about 15 minutes. Martin was extremely helpful in solving my issue. The issue was more about my lighting and enclosure material than the system. Martin's suggestions were bang on.

I think that GSA offers good value for the money. The GSA software works well, it just looks dated compared to TGC.

    Good day all,

I have purchased a CX3 but I only have the CX2 portion as of now because the third camera is not ready to ship yet. I am having an issue with getting the SX line camera to see the ball and tricker the Vcam and the HCam. Is there anyone here that could assist me with getting this system operational as I am dying to get golfing. Thank you in advance.

I will PM you shortly. I have some experience with GSA's control panel and LS cameras. Martin does offer remote access support. I will send you some setup links.

Trying to figure out iff getting the E6 is worth the extra $500. What game play modes does TGC have? I am really interested in scramble; I know the E6 has that, but I am not sure about TGC.....

Tournament, Stroke play, and Stableford. I believe that match play is still in Beta. Eventually I can see a local scramble format being offered. I thought long and hard about E6 vs TGC. I bought TGC because gameplay seemed more realistic. Also I saw regular updates with TGC and everything about E6 was coming next week.... and then most likely the next week after that. Still no cloud option for E6? I was promised to hear something about the cloud within two weeks.... and that was last July. Not sure if it ever came out. Plus it is quite costly as the initial cost only gives you 15 courses. You can spend thousands on more courses and still be less than 200 courses. TGC has too many courses. It may take a while to find a good Oakmont as there will be many to choose from. Once you find one you like, save it to favorites. TGC's online tour is awesome. I find myself always practicing for the next event. Online stats and leaderboards are awesome. Check other posts on the forum, you will find that most everyone leans toward TGC here.

It would have been nice to get a 30 day trial with TGC as well to help make my decision easier. Oh well. It seems like the overwhelming majority tend to go with TGC; so i think that will be my buy. Are all the courses user created courses? I don't understand how there can be more than one Oakmont?

Yea you won't regret getting tgc, no one here has said they regretted it, seems to have 100 percent positive reviews. And yea, it's a little annoying finding the best version of the course you want because anyone is free to name their course whatever they want but you'll get accustomed to seeing the better designers names when you pick the courses and then can always save it to your favorites

Some courses are created by HB Studios but the best ones are created by top designers/ users. There's lots of resources on which courses are the good ones.

Do you need to select your club on TGC? Or can you swing away like on e6? I would think the cx2 would give the launch angle so Club selection wouldnt be needed. I noticed a couple videos on youtube where the person was changing clubs on the software.....

You don't need to change your club. I change my club so that I have accurate club data. I am currently beta testing a soon to be released club data feature. With this, I can look at my last 100 or more 7 irons and see what my LA and speed is like. You don't need to, but I would start doing it just to get used to it. I also do it so when I watch a practice round, I see what club I am using on par 3's and short holes. If you haven't bought TGC or E6 yet, I can give you my opinion. TGC is more fun and seems more realistic to me. TGC also seems to be the best supported software out there. It's the newest so it may not be the best featured. But the updates come on a regular basis and they listen to what is important to us.

I am standing right behind the bar during this photo. I will snap a picture of the whole sim with the bar when I get home this evening.

Looks very cool. If I might suggest something. Make your putting area the same as your scan area. All black carpet. This way the ball is not going from one type of flooring to another. I have 11 feet of black carpet. This is also helpful when calibrating the putting. When I putt 10 feet on the carpet it goes 10 feet on a flat green. My carpet is pretty close in speed to the greens that I play IRL. You are going to love TGC...... I have never fired up RedChain since.

Do you have a GSA system? Does every shot read?

I get a few no reads on my CX2 even though the control panel shows LA and ball path. When this happens, the control panel has all the info for a shot but the communication between the CP and TGC fails. This happens once every 50-150 shots. So the cameras are triggered, the ball trace is there, the required data fields are filled..... but no launch in TGC.

I get that also, about every 75-100 shots, same scenario as yours, otherwise it reads really well.
How did the infrared lights work?

Really well, except that I had to add one halogen back. Without the halogen, the LS camera had too narrow of a FOV and it didn't trigger on every shot. Over all my CX 2 system works quite well. Anyone with CX3 or vistrack working?
