  • GGS GSA golf LX Pro Launch Monitor

Martin's been busy with tons of updates and still coming up with new spin devices. Any LX Pro users out there willing to give a review?

Thanks for the report Bubba22. We knew Martin would eventually get it to work. And it does appear that he is close to doing that. Problem for him now is that it might be all for not.

I do wish him luck. Because he is going to need it. Remember the LX will only work with marked balls, unlike the mystery LM.

Yes you are right. Only marked balls and certain logos. Plus the marking needs to be placed facing the cameras. I agree it is too late given what's coming. That's why I told him to concentrate on the LX Elite and Crossfire. That unit will be placed on the ground slightly farther ahead of the player so it will work for righties and lefties. The other issue with the LX is that it is time consuming to produce whereas the casing and production of the Elite or Crossfire is cheaper and less time consuming. The problem will be getting a good picture of the ball in flight, well enough to analyze. Plus how will the markings be assured to be captured. Plan another visit to Martin on weekend.

I just recently payed a visit to Martin. Used the LX Pro and the club cam. The club cam was decent in measuring club data and eventually calculating spin. Not bad at all for those that want left and right. The LX pro was good for ball speed, launch angle and decent for spin/spin axis. The horizontal azimuth was way off. That's why he is trying to do other options for azimuth detection. As well one needs to have the line to detect spin but he is working on getting spin detected without markings and also better estimation of spin if the marking is missed. Overall he is close but more work needed. I would personally not buy it at this time, unless you want a work project. Other things are soon to come. Perhaps Martin should focus on the Surround unit or the Elite?

I see someone on the other forums bought one already.

He's crazy. The unit is not bad but the horizontal measurements are not there. The horizontal measurements are a challenge for any unit that is sitting on the side just as the GC2. Martins is bad. Hit to the right and it will measure a left shot. I suggested for now he adds an overhead cam with the LX Pro until he sorts the horizontal direction. The spin and spin axis were not bad. You can hit and then actually go to the interface to see the captured shots and the meaurements. He is close. I see he is trying some new methods to measure spin. Whenthe line is not detected the spin is guessed.

I don't agree with that guessing method. Not for that price anyway.

I agree Z. Martins plan is to develop a unit that can measure spin via dimples. He feels that the whole dimple measurement is a bit phony. Lookng at his images, I suspect he needs a better flash. His cameras are plenty good, in fact better than what is needed or possible to measure spin.

You're right. He's just missing the right flash and the right timimg/triggering system. If he would just concentrate on this and the spin cam, instead of all every silly ideas that pop into his head when he's at the bar...

Like an alternate look up table for ball path. LOL!!!! http://www.gsagolf.com/technical_news.htm
That is not a good idea!

LOL!!! It is not a good idea. Better flash, add a top camera for indoor use, improve the software etc anything better than guessing!!!
