  • HD golf

Anybody gaming the HD golf? They are popular here in Ontario especially at indoor golf centers. I have been down to visit and tour their facility several times. Impressive technology. I am not a big fan of their real picture software at all. They provide club and ball data. Not sure if they have anything new recently. http://www.hdgolf.com/

I used to train throughout the winter on the hdgolf systems. The system is the best out there. I love the accuracy of Data that comes from it. I forget which place I was at but they had a trackman and a hdgolf system setup at the same time. The measurements were really close to trackman. The HDgolf system did not miss one shot where the trackman on some shots were all over the place in terms of spin and pushing shots 10-20 yards longer. When trackman actually registered the shots were really close between both systems.

If you want to know anything let me know.

Thanks for the mini-review golfyn, and welcome to the Golf Simulator Forum. Are you familiar the hardware/software and how it all works? i.e. how many cameras, which camera(s) does what, and how spin is measured or calculated, or regular balls, marked balls, etc..

      Thanks

Very Familiar, it uses 4 cameras in total 2 stereo vision which are at the screen and 2 above the hitting mat. 1 camera looks at impact of club and ball, and the other looks at the spin. You can use any type of ball, but they must be marked with reflective strip of tape. Spin is measured using the rotation of the reflective tape. If there is no tape it will not show the data at all.

The software is linux based. I agree with above about using pictures but I must say if you want true to the course this is the best there is. The chipping and putting need a while to get used to. I feel this on all simulators, there is nothing like actually being on the course. The good thing about putting is that you do not need to putt all the way to the screen. So if you have a 4 foot putt. only putt 4 feet on the turf. When the ball stops the cameras will trigger and goes from there.

Sounds like a nice system. There's a new HD Golf indoor sim/bar that's only 20 minutes from me. I plan on checking it out sometime this Winter.

Are you affiliated with HD Golf in some ways? I'm curious to know the amount of their user base. And whether they would be interested in TGC simulator software. It would be a great add-on to their system and allow users to compete online or just to have 1000's new courses to play.

The systems are pricey so the numbers will be small but indoor golf centers would be smart to allow their regulars to compete online.

I am not affiliated with them, but think the the golf club software would be really cool to have on it. I do not know if they would do it since they are a closed system. The Hd golf system does have online play. I think its clubhouse.hdgolf.com. There you can upload clubfitting data and swing analysis videos. I havn't played any tournaments yet.

Nice. Playing online in a tournament in real time is a blast. Do you have a sim at home now or are you in the process putting one in?

I wish I could put one in. Always thinking about it but way out of budget.

What's your budget? A full Protee system just went for $4500 on Ebay. Check out the "Build your own" section for ideas to how to put one in cheap. No need to spend $10-50K anymore.

Too bad. Online play is a blast. The HD sim is very accurate. I just didn't like the real pictures. It would be cool if they would integrate with TGC.

A years old hd golf simulator has just come up for sale near me. How would u say the accuracy compares to gc2. Would you buy one if it was the "right" price

Absolutely. It's not cheap though. I would say its as if not more accurate than the GC2, especially in the horizontal azumuth. What's the price?
