  • Thinking of starting a golf sim league at home...how?

I’m thinking of setting up a golf sim league over the fall with some buddies. I have fsx2020, just wondering how anyone runs the league, tips etc? Money/no money..
putting gummies etc.. Keep track on a whiteboard on the wall etc
    any help appreciated.

I run a Winter/Spring League ... We have 6 guys now and that is about the max I cap it. See below details for the 2021. We play on Wednesday nights to break the week up. When we play the majors all 6 people play and the first tee time is 5:30 and the second one is right after that. I also made the Masters leaderboard on the wall next to the TV and I keep track of scoring on that as well as on a Google Sheet I share with the league. I also keep manual scorecards in another Google Sheet to keep track of a scores and calculate an adjusted 18 hole score to go into their handicaps. We only play the back 9 of every course as we do not have time to play all 18 holes (Pebble we play #7 then 11-18). We have a 3rd Google Sheet keeping track of our "Sim Handicaps" since they are not the same as in real life. We also do a Ryder Cup style at the end we call Brother's Cup. We play a local course I have uploaded on the sim.

    Layout
14 tournaments over 14 wks and everyone gets 4 byes so you play 10 tourneys total. During non major weeks scoring is 6, 3, 0, and 6, 4, 2, 0. During majors all 6 people play and scoring is 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, and 0. I ranked the players 1-6 and scheduled byes based on that. Where you finish determines your schedule the following year. Also, based on how you finish determines whether you play the following 4 permanent non majors next year (Pebble, Sawgrass, TPC Scottsdale, Muirfield). Top 3 get to play Pebble and Sawgrass while the top 4 get to play Scottsdale (If good version available) and Muirfield.

    Schedule as follows:

    Wk 1 - 1/6 - Pebble Beach - Nick, Bader, Ryan Byes
    Wk 2 - 1/13 - Kapalua - Dylan, Dan, Cody Byes
    Wk 3 - 1/20 - Augusta National Masters (ALL)
    Wk 4 - 1/27 - PGA National - Dylan, Dan Byes
    Wk 5 - 2/3 - TPC San Antonio - Cody, Nick Byes
    Wk 6 - 2/10 - TPC Scottsdale - Bader, Ryan Byes
Wk 7 - 2/17 - Kiawah Island PGA Championship (ALL)
    Wk 8 - 2/24 - Muirfield - Bader, Ryan Byes
    Wk 9 - 3/3 - Harbor Town - Cody, Nick Byes
    Wk 10 - 3/10 - East Lake GC - Dylan, Dan Byes
Wk 11 - 3/17 - Torrey Pines US Open (ALL)
    Wk 12 - 3/24 - Congressional - Dylan, Dan, Cody Byes
Wk 13 - 3/31 -TPC Sawgrass - Nick, Bader, Ryan Byes
Wk 14 - 4/7 - St. Andrews British Open (ALL)

-Overall winner gets paid out whole pot and wins 2021 League Night
-Wk to wk winnings are calculated and factored in total payouts at the end
-$10 per wk played for non majors ($5 for winner that week and $5 goes to the pot)
-$20 per wk played for majors ($10 for winner that week and $10 goes to the pot)

    Rules:
    1. Handicaps are used
    a) 8 best of last 20 rounds
    b) Course Handicaps are calculated as:
    i) Handicap x (Slope Rat/113)+(CR - Par)
    c) Adjusted 18 hole scores are calculated as:
    i) Gross score + par of other 9 + 1/2 of 9 hcp
    2. Per HCP max net strokes per hole will be:
    a) Par + Double Bogey + strokes received
    3. Gimmes set to 2 yds and in which is +1
    4. Straight Putt Patch On
    5. Greens will be set to fast and firm for majors
    6. Fairways set to firm for majors
    7. Up tees on non-majors (In between 6300-6700 yds)
    8. Playing tips on all majors
    9. Random weather generator will be used for non majors to determine wind, green speeds/firmness, and fairway firmness.
    10. Majors weather will be clear with no wind except The Open which will be high wind.
    11. Ties will result in playoff holes to determine 1st and 2nd. If ties occur between 2nd-4th or 2nd-6th the points will be totaled and split.
    12. Overall tie with 2 people at the end for first will result in a 9 hole match play selected by the others
    A. Overall tie between 3 or more people will result in a regular 9 hole match on a course selected by the others.

    Wk 15-20 Brothers Cup (Oasis) 4/14 - 5/19
    Team A (1st - C/3rd/6th) v. Team B (2nd - C/4th/5th)
    Wk 15 - 4/14 Fourball Front 9 (1&6 v. 2&5)
    Wk 16 - 4/21 Alt Shot 18 holes (3&6 v. 4&5)
    Wk 17 - 4/28 Fourball Back 9 (1&3 v. 2&4)
    Wk 18 - 5/5 Match Back 9 (1 v. 5 / 6 v. 2 / 3 v. 4)
    Wk 19 - 5/12 Match Back 9 (1 v. 4 / 3 v. 2 / 6 v. 5)
    Wk 20 - 5/19 Match Back 9 (6 v. 4 / 3 v. 5 / 1 v. 2)
***12 Total Points; First to 7 Wins

    1. Losers pay winners $30 per person

This is from last year but we here is the leaderboard and we have a champion plaque next to it with previous winners. We also play for a green jacket when playing the Masters

Were you talking about mine or the original poster? Mine is run locally in Cincy and my buddies come over and play on my setup. I would be down for a money league over the sim with other users but I would not be sure how to do that and make sure everyone was on the up and up.

I use my browser on my phone for this forum and then my computer at work.

Resurrecting an old thread but I’m looking to see if any new local league formats are started and what options your doing. I’m curious about a 2v2 scramble league.

Ngregg21- I must have got sidetracked but forgot to respond to your detailed post, that sounds amazing I don’t know how you keep up with all that! I was a little overwhelmed reading how you have the league..but thank you for the detailed response!

I am also starting s scramble format soon and trying to research ideas. Did you find anything? I’m likely going to host a two night a week sim league and have each have a champion and each championship team will play each other.
