    Elbow Pain Solution

Just curious with everyone talking about their tennis/golfers elbow how people got rid of it? I’m going on two months and very little to no play ... then did 6 holes with my son tonight and thought it was better but right away started hurting again, as if I had done nothing to heal it. Tried king brand heating pad, creams, elbow sleeve. Very frustrating. Pretty sure I will be getting a prp injection ... but then requires 8 weeks completely off.

Have you tried one of those bands?

Stretching is a bit key and I rolled my arm out on a lacrosse ball. There are also some exercises on you tube you can try and also there are some therapists that specialize in treating this type of thing with massage. All work, but you have to take a little bit of a break and really let it heal. If you can't wait, I have found that those arm bands/straps helped a lot (some are better than others).

Yeah see I took like 8 weeks off ... and then hit again and it’s as if I was back at square one. And I was doing the wrap with the lacrosse ball rolling it. And the stretching. And the king brand elbow heat. And some cream off amazon. The prp injection has worked for me before and helps the healing process. But have to take 8 weeks off completely after the shot. So total of about 4 months off with a new sim in my basement. Frustrating.

I’ve tried just about everything under the sun ... but I am sure I don’t give them long enough as patience like most men is not my strong suit ... especially men with a newer golf sim in their basement. I’ve had success with prp injection before in my other elbow for tennis elbow.

I switched to a Fiberbuilt mat, and try to not hit floor with a club at any time.
Also wear elbow bands when golfing as well as most of the time I'm working with my arms.
      No meds other than Blue-Emu.
Over 12 months elbows have improved to the point that I only wear one band now, and that is mostly mental as the elbow doesn't hurt much anymore.

Holtzeeeeee, I bought the green and it works, but i wish i would have went with the blue, which i think has higher resistance. I find the green a little to easy, but it definitely has helped me.

How long did it take to work? I think one of the big issues is the amount of patience I have ...

Holtzeeeeee when it was really bad, i took about 1-2 weeks to see some improvement. Now i use it off and on for just a couple of days if I'm starting to notice any pain. I hear you on the patience, I was in the same boat and never really found anything that works quickly for this.

Two things that eliminated my golfers elbow.

Switched to graphite shafts in irons

Used elbow strap above left elbow

As soon as pain went away I quit using the strap. Using the strap will allow you to play while the elbow heals

Interesting that the strap allows you to heal while still playing ... didn’t think that was the case. Can you share what you have? All I see is straps for tennis elbow.

In my case, these exercises have helped, especially the one where you rub on the elbow joint, in a motion perpendicular to the arm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NExFfXSe2Mc&t=20s

Also, the aircast brace has been useful:https://www.amazon.com/Aircast-29340...s%2C191&sr=8-6

Ice to remove the swelling is good, but I've found I like a slow cooling down better than quick cooling with direct ice. I put ice in a zip lock bag, wrap it in cloth, and use bandages to keep the cold pack in position.

The tennis elbow ones are the same, you just put the pressure point on a different muscle.

I went with the injection last week after fighting this for 3 months. Took 5 days off per Dr. orders, hit balls yesterday, no issues. I do like the graphite shafts in the irons. Had them for 2 years with zero issues. This year I was trying to get more height and spin so I went from Steel Fiber 125 CW X to Modus 120 Stiff. My spin went up but so did my elbow issues. May be looking for new shafts this spring. Good luck as this is a pain in the...elbow!

Prp injection or cortisone? I dealt with tennis elbow in my other arm 2-3 years ago. But that injury was from weightlifting. Tried everything possible including cortisone over the course of 12 months or so, maybe even a bit longer. Prp injection was the only thing that worked. But man 5 days that’s it?!? My dr who is the same one who did my other elbow is saying 8 weeks!

I just saw a new medical device on mygolfspy.com for Tennis elbow. I am considering trying it, but its not cheap ($350) supposed to be the same as a physical therapist massage.

The Fiix Elbow tennis elbow and golfer's elbow device is a drug free, non-surgical approach to treat elbow pain with a convenient, at home treatment plan. The Fiix Elbow device automates a proven physical therapy procedure so you can treat tennis and golfer's elbow at-home. 90-Day Money-Back Guarantee.

I find stretching and the arm band keeps it manageable.

Will that work for golfers elbow? The muscle that is affected is different from tennis elbow I had thought. I think the lacrosse ball might be a cheaper solution, but this loooks very neat!

Beat me to it I was thinking the same exact thing. I am surprised no one has mentioned the prp injection. If you have a case of it that has been going on for quite a while and tried different things I would recommend it. But it hurts like a MOTHER.

My limited understanding of golfers elbow vs tennis elbow is they are the same injury (tendinitis) to different tendons. Tennis elbow is outside tendons and Golfer's elbow is inside tendons. I assume they have treatment.

In addition to what the folks here posted, I was given a couple exercises by my PT that seemed to help. The first was a nerve glide - it basically helps the nerve slide through the muscle. Here is an example - the first two I did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZJ1...DNI-ODAhwWoMy5. The other was some weight training. Take a light dumbell - like 5 pounds to start, put your forearm on your thigh and rotate the dumbell side to side. 3 sets of 10 on both. Did the nerve glide every day and the weights ever other. Still do them but a bit less to "prevent" recuurrence.

Got my prp injection today. For you guys who are dealing with an annoying and deliberating elbow injury for 4+ months I highly recommend it. I suffered from tennis elbow on my other arm for about 2.5 years and tried everything everyone mentioned ... cortisone, physical therapy, chiro, self manipulation, theraband flexbar ... you name it. Prp was the only thing that worked. Two things though ... 1 it is expensive and insurance doesn’t cover it (for me today it was $740) and 2 it hurts like a mother. I have been reading a lot about elbow pain on this forum so just wanted to share my experience and if you are feeling like there is no hope consider prp. But be prepared ... it hurts. And requires patience and rest after to let it heal. Feel free to pm me if you have questions or want to chat about it.
