Best Mat w/ integrated optishot space

So I am just diving into the simulator thing and chose one of the least expensive routes possible by going with the optishot.

A few questions:

1) Is there a stance mat/top pad that work well together? A combo that fits properly?
2) Is it possible to use the Optishot effectively outdoors? If so what adjustments are necessary?

I will have more but that should do it for now. Thanks for any and all help!

P.S. - I don't have a ton of time to put together stance mats and platforms and such, so I really just need to buy the best option. Time is of the essence, if it takes too long to do I probably wont do it.

1) Check out Arsenegolf.com for turf tops. I just finished my build and am very happy I purchased the turf from him, after going through 3 other types of turf tops that just didn't cut it. It also looks like he is now selling mats as well.

You mentioned not having time to DIY, etc - but I couldn't stomach paying 3 or 4x the money and ended up building my own platform concealing the optishot for a much cleaner look than a mat with an actual cut-out option. Only major purchase being this mat:

I cut two slots in the mat being very careful to get the alignment just right. So far no issues, although I may extend the front cut out. Other materials were only about $50

The platform didn't take too long to build, especially considering the other projects we all consider DIY-ing. A trip to home depot and a few hours to get things just right. Added the border after the fact. But if time/money is your main factor - you nailed it. Fork over the extra dough and feel good about it.

Solid roll-up flux... try looking into allturf mats for their Opti mats. Good products for the price!

I know this post is a bit old, but thought I’d share my DIY budget solution for anyone wanting to build a nice level surface hitting mat for the optishot 2. It’s light and cost me about $70-$75 at Home Depot. Bought a 1x4x8 Foamular board and cut it to 4’x5’ and then bought 4’x6’ of turf carpet (most of cost) and a can of super 77 spray adhesive. Just used a sharp razor blade and came together quickly. Attaching some photos. Hope it helps someone else on a budget. I love the feel and surprisingly rigid yet not too hard.

Can you tell me how this is holding up for you? Thinking of doing a similar build and would love some advice.

I have a set-up in the garage. Never tried it outside, but had a stream of sunlight coming through the garage, the Optishot couldn't see anything. Blocked the window and it worked perfectly again. So I would guess outside is not going to work well.
I bought a generic stance mat with the square cut out for the swing pad. It's 1/2 lower than the swing pad, I just choke up a bit. The cars are parked in the garage, too. So when I want to play, I just back the cars out (maybe a minute), set-up the net (45 seconds), lay down the mat and swing pad (5 seconds) then plug in the laptop and the TV (3 seconds). Ready to go.
The guys are coming over to play a round tonight, I can snap a pic if you're interested.

I have a worn-out 3yr old Ulti-Mat (1), the kind that claims 'It can hold a tee!'. It's easily 2.5" thick 5' long 4' wide and cut out for the Optishot. The Optishot is kind of tall, and so as to not have a big bulbous strike zone and make it even, I have 2 layers of foam playroom square that interlock underneath and a cutout for the Optishot and USB cable. They add about another inch and just about a match with the Optishot and the Ultimat1 on top. The new Ultimat 2 looks even better, and of all the things that can make Optishot sweet, it would be Utltimat2. They cost north of 300 but they are worth every penny.

But that's not why I'm posting, I hit a shot in the Munich Tournament today that was just 40 inches short of an Albatros! An instant Eagle! On the first par 5. And it wasn't a fluke. A bad fade setup a 3 wood shot from the rough. I adjusted my aim 9 arrows right of the stick and nailed the 3 as hard as I could. I was in the zone with a 67 final (T13). How sweet it is. To bad my wife will go, "miff".
