  • Optishot 1 Vs 2

New to the SIM world, just got my first enclosure set up as 12x9 with EMT. I have a net that goes around the whole thing's and a 12x9 canvas as a temporary "screen".

For now I bought Optishot on Kijiji for $175 but it is Optishot 1, not 2. I have a few questions.

    1)what's the difference in 1vs 2? Can I download the 2 software?

2)I've seen calibration being done on videos for Optishot 2 but can't figure out how to do it on Optishot 1.

I'm a 6 handicap in real life, I expect Optishot to less accurate for the price but......

My 9 iron swing keps showing like 40 to 60 degrees open face. Even when I KNOW the face is square. Disheartening at first however I was able to change the offset to.25 and it seems alot more inline. Distance seems somewhat accurate on most shots.
My irons are Titleist 716 AP2s. They are players clubs with without tons of offset and they are clean Chrome on the sole. Will I need to tape? Should I have calibrated before playing with the offset?

I'm guessing my woods will be taped but haven't tried those yet.

Assuming I can learn how to calibrate. Should I tape first then calibrate then change offset? Or try without tape first then change offset offset then calibrate?

    Thanks in advance much appreciated!

The sensor pads are the same between Optishot 1 and 2. The only difference was the software. Optishot 2 added online play, calibration, tournaments, etc. You can download the Optishot 2 software from their website:

If you want the best possible results tape (I use white electrical tape) all of your clubs and use the calibration function. You do not have to take full swings to calibrate. Use a slow putting motion for all clubs. If you use the calibration function, this will override the offset.

Also make sure you are controlling the lighting...no incandescent or sunlight.
