  • Keeping Sweet Magnolia the whole year

    Hello
I want to keep this awesome course, and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions to do so.
Last year I tried to copy the folders and rename them. Butb I couldn't get it to work.
I'm wondering if having the program on 2 different external hard drives would work. Sync OS so I have Augusta. Then copy it to a diff drive and only use that one off-line. Swap drives for when I want to be on line and when I just want to play Augusta.
One downside I see is any changes I make to settings or clubs will obviously not transfer over.
    thoughts anyone??

Putting it on another computer and never connecting it online while playing worked for me. I had an old laptop that ran it fine

wohoo just got it! tomorrow is going to be amazing playing alongside watching the Masters.

        Wait...

If I never "update" optishot, never login to my user, and only use play/practice single player mode, but my computer is still hooked up to the internet, I should still be okay or no?

This is what makes Optishot Great!. Total blast playing folks on a legend course for the Masters. To the other Sims, LEARN.

What other sims? We are playing Augusta on TGC and JNPG this week. Are there some other Sims that run online tournies that I'm missing?

I didn't mean that other sims don't have Augusta available, but with Optishot they seasonally bring this course out free to all. It's kind of like a holiday. Opti already has a fun live-online play already.

I'll admit, the Optishot is a good "game". It's fund to play on with my grandsons, but I do not find it an accurate simulator, as compared to a SkyTrak or other such simulator.. I can hit shots on an Optishot that should be a massive hook or slice, and on the Optishot, they are just normal looking draws and fades.

I also do not like how Optishot has courses you can only play on for a limited time, or you have to buy them. I can play Augusta National anytime I want with TGC. I do not have to wait until the "powers that be" let me play it.

          You...could...buy it.

            No you can't
Unless they've changed something in the last year.

It's not one they sell. We have played it this weekend, along side the rebroadcast of the telecast. It's a blast. I love it and wish there was a way to keep it year round.

If you've got an extra computer, there is a workaround.

Is there a way we could block Optishot from accessing the internet if we knew what ports it used? Or a firewall? Instead of using an old computer I mean.

Ok... here's what I'm trying... don't know if it's going to work or not but worth a shot.

Blocking Optishot with Windows Firewall... I don't use the online play feature at all and have already downloaded all of my courses so no need for me to be online.
            1) https://www.wikihow.com/Block-a-Prog...ndows-Firewall
            2) I added the Optishot program to my list of applications as it wasn't already in that list for some reason.
            3) I allowed Optishot access to public networks but not private networks.

My home network is listed as private so I'm hoping this keeps Optishot from accessing the internet. I'm not sure when they remove it from people's computers but I'll update this if I can keep it on my machine.
        Working...
