  • Handicap Index and *** Optishot Tour

    Hey Guys,

Eventually we will be moving towards a Handicap process, this will keep the field close but also encourage players to practice and improve there score..
What I have in mind is a Weighted Handicap: Handicap weighted against the Gross.

Works something like this Player A is a Scratch golfer, Player B is a 20 Handicap, it we use a Weight of 75% handicap and 25% Gross Player B would have a handicap of 15 coming into Tournament.. Player A would stay same because he is Scratch..

This process will always give the edge to the better golfer, and will encourage golfers to improve there score instead of just settling.

The Weights can vary from week to week until we find a weight that is fair for all and keep it tight..

Please let me know your thoughts

    Thanks
    CatMan

I did them after the last round of the major. Then went on the range. As I said in another post : straight away it went from 10 closed 10 open to 1 open 1 closed. It makes quite a difference to be 3 yd left of the pin and not 30 yd left. LOL

            Yes,

We will Use the Handicap System for Major, Min will be -3 Max will be 18, New Player with less than 4 Rounds will be Manually Inputed... This should tighten things up, We will evaluate after the Event..

            Thanks CatMan

              Gents,

I Will be doing a Video on how the handicap will be computed for the next Major and posting it.. I do not want to use negative numbers with the Handicap, but would rather add the strokes to the index on the guys that have + handicap. Players that have less than 4 rounds will be done Manually by me based on the scores posted in this Tournament, and looking at those Scorecards.

So say if the Lowest handicap is -3, 3 strokes will be to all players with 0 and above indexes, the -3 handicap will be at 0.,It will work out the same in the end..

The Video will show how your handicap was derived step by step

              Thanks,

              CatMan

Are there any "restricitions" for the handicap system? Such as no less than -3, and no more than +9.

Hey guys. Once again I hate to be center of attention of online golf. One thing I been noticing is how the handicapp works. If these tournaments are going to be ran by handicaps then I suggest they should be looked at a little closer. I looked over all the tournaments and I notice that people who shoot under par consistently are still at 0. And I will take myself for instance. I shoot 8 under to 18 over and I'm still at a 0 handicapp for the tournament. I just feel handicapp should be looked at a little closer in my opionion. Guys should not be continually under par with using a handicapp. After playing 5 tournaments. So either we play straight up or have these handicaps looked at closer.

Willy im giving you a shot yet i hit the ball 250 you 350..
You cant on one hand say how good you are and then on the other ask for shots.
Also wortn mentioning hcp is not your average, its nearer the best of your ability, so an 18 over should frankly have very little bearing on your handicap.

Hey Hogan. Wasn't asking for strokes. But what is a handicap? . It means the high strokes players can complete with the low stroke players.

And also. What does a 350 yard have to do have to do with when you can't put it in the hole.

You ever heard of drive for show and putt for dough. Well that's the learning curve I'm working on right now is the putting. I know in real like I have never had 40 plus putts.

I just wanted to know how the handicapp works. I'm at a 0 and been shooting around par and I see guys are constantly under par and still at 0. So my thinking is why are they not at a -1 or -2 or even -3.

Shouldn't at the end of the tournament guys should be around par and winning with the handicapp in place.

And please. This is no reference to anybody and I'm not pointing fingers. But I keep hearing we want to keep this league has fair has possible.

But at the end of the day if I'm first or last im competing and have something to do in the winter time.

So please I'm not attacking anybody but maybe need to look at the handicapp thing again. If not then so be it. Will still be on the links.

The good news willy is its easier to learn to putt than it is to drive the ball long, so I'd swap with ur game any day

Hi all, Is the handicap system mentioned above still in place. I think my H/C of 8 is pretty much spot on for ability, just cant get my head around how that relates to say Vega. If he's say in effect playing off - 4, should that mean that when his is then adjusted to 0 my handicap would in effect increase to 12 for the next tournament, even though Ive near enough been playing to my 8.

Probably me being a bit dumb but just wanted to confirm that was indeed the case, and if so be good if that could be noted somewhere, possibly on stats so can see what people are playing to, ie a playing handicap, and then on leaderboard page the index listed is purely a tournament handicap. Just think it could help when we play offline too with our friends.

New to all this but very very impressed with how its all run, thanks to everyone involved
