  • Handicap Index and *** Optishot Tour

    Hey Guys,

Eventually we will be moving towards a Handicap process, this will keep the field close but also encourage players to practice and improve there score..
What I have in mind is a Weighted Handicap: Handicap weighted against the Gross.

Works something like this Player A is a Scratch golfer, Player B is a 20 Handicap, it we use a Weight of 75% handicap and 25% Gross Player B would have a handicap of 15 coming into Tournament.. Player A would stay same because he is Scratch..

This process will always give the edge to the better golfer, and will encourage golfers to improve there score instead of just settling.

The Weights can vary from week to week until we find a weight that is fair for all and keep it tight..

Please let me know your thoughts

    Thanks
    CatMan

  • oh and you should have both gross and net winners in each flight.U know when I win a tournament in real life by net score I am always disappointed that it wasn't gross but the club house money spends the same. lol

I've talked to several golfers about it and a lot of them don't really understand how it works, considers it to be a Nintendo WII with real clubs, have the perception that it's too expensive to get into, don't think they have sufficient room in their house for it, etc. I wish there was a video that really gave a good visual as to how easy this is to set up, how realistic it is, what a great tool it is, how little space it requires depending on how elaborate you want to make it, and a feel for how the online play and tournaments work including the ability to chat online or even use TeamSpeak, Skype or Google Hangout during play.

I nominate John (Catman) to make a promotional video! Anyone second that motion? He clearly enjoys making videos and what better video to make than one to bring more golfers into the group?

John, I'll even let you borrow my new HD camera if you need a second one to film the video!

      • Addionally we could create a thread where every player posts pictures of his room and setup? So interested people can see different setups and choose if one fits to them.

          • and lets give overall cost with the pics to show how its relatively inexpensive and how its not perfect it is definitely a great tool to keep the cob webs of your swing in winter. to me, the optishot driving range is better than going to the real range due to the data you receive with it really lets you hone in on club head speed ,tempo, and face angle to learn to create more consistent draws and fades. plus you can work to keep the putter head coming through square on practice greens. I feell all these things are pretty accurate readings of whats going on in your swing and can help a ton.
