I did send optishot a email about a month ago and told them what I had for a setup. And they said I didn't have enough light. That's why I put the lamp directly over the sensors. but I don't think that helped.
thabks for the input. Will try using those options.
I even using the offset at different settings and was still getting roughly the same numbers for open and closed club face.

I'm not really sure how it works but my understanding of how the unit works was that it outputs a beam of (red ir led) and receives a reflection from the club back into the unit (black IR LED) which give the clubs position and angles at various points throughout the swing.
If this is the case then in theory no external light at all should be fine, in fact should improve things id have thought (other than the fact its harder for you to see the ball lol,) but as far as optishot is concerned id have thought the best possible scenario would be no external light sources interfering with the IR receivers. I guess thats why they recommend CFL lighting as minimal IR.
Again also thought this as taping clubs (making them more reflective) made the system work better.
That was my thinking behind the lighting suggestion anyway.Last edited by JohnMeyer; 01-16-2015, 04:24 PM.

Hey Jason , I feel your.pain. I also get some really closed.results from driver one.and a while but.mostly short irons. I did all of the above and sometimes im straight and then.sometimes like last night many closed face 12 deg and.more ? Im convinced its my swing but It doesnt always happen ? In real life I slice when I miss it ? I will try rotating my forearms more and try playing with the offsets. Good luck and keep us posted . Also, do you guys use shaft lean with your short irons.and do you change the ball position for all.clubs like in real golf ?Originally posted by Willymakit View PostSo I'm to the point of frustration of throwing this optishot out if the reading I get with irons and sometimes the driver is off the charts. I'm getting readings of 10 degrees open or close I even manipulate the club and still get the same results.
Here is my setup. Have a lamp directly over the sensors roughly 8-10 inches above with enough clearance to swing club and not hit the lamp. Have a bulb that is forescent light. Have taped my clubs and and calibrated and re calibrated and even deleted the calibration and I'm still getting readings of 5-10 open or closed on almost every shot. I have unplugged the optishot and still get the same results. If I can't figure this out I might just quit playing.
Any other suggestions. I was so upset last night after playing john that I stayed up for another 2 hours trying to figure something out and still getting the same results. Even changed irons and still same results. I don't think I got any sleep last night because of thinking of trying different things.
I emailed optishot this morning. Hopefully they have some suggestions I can try. Or I could just have a faulty optishot.Www.onlinegolftour.net

I always hit off the same spot (depression) but do adjust ball position in stance and shaft lean just as I would in real life. I too get misreads but for me its 3 wood, 3 iron and occasionally 4 iron.
Normally either 12+ open or closed.
My main gripe is when i top it and ball says 300 yards lol. Its still causes you to take the extra shot I guess as id have too in real life, just from beyond the hole rather than short of it

Glad you got it worked out. Yeah, my lights are more like 2 feet above the sensors. Still weird how everybody has varied results regarding lighting.Originally posted by Willymakit View PostSo some good news finally. Checked sensors and they were working properly. Had a lamp directly over the sensors roughly 8 inches over sensors are a no no. Took the light away and everything is back to normal
So on that note. John a rematch. Lol.

Hi all
So just in case people didnt know, (i didn't until yesterday), you can double click anywhere on the map on the driving range (top right) and that is where youll play your shots from. so if you wanna practice shots from say 150 yards, just select a flag and then double click on the map anywhere thats 150 yards out and thats where youll play your shot from
You can also practice putting if you double click on the green relating to the flag you selected, and bunkers too

having driver trouble. I use a real ball. However unlike all of my other cubs my driver only registers 1 out of 10 swings with a real ball. I also have the Optishot driver with same result. I have taped as sugested. Clubs read fine with no ball. I have flouresent lighting over head. I have tryed moving the light, no light, same result. any ideas?
thanks.

Hi,
So as you may have seen in struggling with my 3 wood
To be fair I don't normally carry one or hit one as never been a huge fan and play shorter tracks in real life than on here so never normally need one
Back in my earlier days of golf when I struggled with driver I used to use a 15 degree muscle back driver iron (1 iron ?) which back then was good for 225 yards.
I'm thinking I'll go back to it as a replacement for my 3 wood.
Now 3 wood prob good for 235 or so if hit properly so think 225 is about right.
Just wondering what should I set it as, a hybrid, or a 1 iron. Not sure it makes any difference in the software but it might do, so thought I'd get your views before I start testing and getting the % dialled in.
Also I'm wary that as 3 wood is limited to 100 100 max would this still apply to this club as it is a direct replacement sort of , or should I just set at whatever is required to achieve the 225 average as per iron guidelines
3 wood just doesn't read properly, requires a huge offset to get it in shape and I top it a lot giving me some undeserved distance boosts which I don't think is fair so would rather go to this iron
Just wanted some advice on what setting you think should be permitted before proceeding
Cheers
