I typically just double whatever distance I am and hit that club. For example, if I'm 30ft from the pin, I'll chip for 20yds. If it's a fairway bunker, I usually just grab my 2H and swing for the fences because I'm probably not going to get there anyway.

Hey did a little test out of the sand from about 80 yards out and posted it on youtube. Take a look...not sure it will help.Testing the distance adjustments needed for hitting out of fairway bunker on Optishot. How many clubs should I be clubbing down to reach the green? In this v...

Dean, rather that club down, wouldn't it make more sense to alter the Character of the SW in Opti-Shot so as to more accurately simulate actual club performance, so that you are staying as consistent as possible to real play? I know my personal goal is to hit the same distance, club face angle, arc etc... as on the course, so as to practice at home and get better. It seems that if I club down at home, I will still be unprepared (from a practice to get better perspective) on the real course. Thoughts?

Jay...I think the sand trap is different then your regular shot. In fact you can adjust how difficult it is to hit out of the trap on Optishot (if you have questions about that i have a video i can sent you). On a real course I will many times club down because i often dont pick the ball cleanly out of the trap. Also i think if you are fiddling with the SW adjustments all the time (in the sand, rough and fairway) it may start to get annoying. That is just what i have found...hope that helps.
