Thanks ZMAX for your input on Skytrak. Well I did more testing. I set my OptiShot back to REAL BALL type. I had to adjust and lower the Distance Percentage otherwise I was hitting my irons too far as compared to my real distance. I have thick monster turf and I hit down on the ball. For whatever reason my OptiShot outputs longer distances when set to 100% for everything. So now I have the distances configured to match my same distances on my Skytrak. Yeah, after testing some more I realized the FOAM BALL setting really slowed down the club speed. Even though distances looked ok at first, the club head speed was way off, even though like ZMAX said it's not exact and estimates.

Bottom line adjusting distance and club speed allows for many different ways to configure the OptiShot to output the same distance you desire. I was being very picky trying to get it perfect. Anyway, ignore my previous statements...that was me testing and trying new things....LOL. Good luck everybody in the tournament!!!!!!!!!

Well that was slightly frustrating. Not often I shoot my real handicap on optishot. Haha. Hole 6? kicked my ass. 160 left to the hole on my second shot. Putt from the fringe and forget to change it to putter. Then that hole position. Wow. 9. Anyways. Fun to be playing for something. Looking forward fo the best round. Need to get my wedges sorted out. They were all over the place. Only clubs that aren't taped and are satin black so maybe that's the problem.

Well that is with the FOAM BALL selected which I did not know like everyone mentioned the update caused it. I hit a real ball, not foam at the screen.

I switched it back to Real Ball, then I was having to change my Distance Percentage way down to reflect real distances. Then I thought, maybe OptiShot has an error and has something mixed up with which ball type is for which setting.

So here is the blind blower for all of you. I have a SkyTrak launch monitor. It reads ball distance and club speed very accurately. So guess what, the setting I have set to FOAM BALL matches everything the Skytrak is reading for distance and club head speed for each club while using a real ball.

My thinking is Optishot has something messed up. Because when I switch it back to real ball my swing speed goes way up!!! A lot higher than what the Skytrak is reading. And when I have it on real ball I'm finding I'm having to adjust my distance percentage way down (which seems strange why I would have to adjust it).

So maybe if any of you want to test this theory, setup a new player and club set and adjust the following to see if you get results that are very close to real life. This setup below matches my Skytrak!!!!!

          Setup
          Ball Type: Foam Ball
          Driver: 100% Speed & 93% Distance
          Woods: 100% Speed & 93% Distance
          Hybrid: 100% Speed & 93% Distance
          Irons: 100% Speed & 100% Distance
(Set your real average distance in the club setup)
(You may need to tweak your Distance Percent but that is what matched the Skytrak for me)

Now you may or may not notice your swing speed go down from your previous setting. But an average golfer is usually at 90-100 swing speed. A Tour Pro is 110-125 swing speed.

Curious if this setup resembles closer to your real swing or not. If anything, do a test and let me know.

Again, everyone has different swings, so this may or may not be helpful!
I completely agree with this post, I had my driver set to 82% distance my 3&5 woods at 90%, I have them all set to 100% now to try to remain competitive here but the distances are complete b/s. Im sorry but i do not believe people swing at 115-125mph, hit average 300+ drives and 150yd PW.

Mr. Hogan. Yes some people do hit that far IRl. i play on the HD Simulator on the weekends with my group that I golf with during the summer and I have to say it's pretty close to realistic. My swing speed on the hd simulator is pretty to the optishot. Not sure if you know what smash factor is but I guess its the golf term everybody uses. Mine is around 1.42 to 1.46.

The difference between the two simulator I do notice is that when you hit a bad shot on the optishot. It still goes the same distance has if you it it pure. The reason being is because it measures your club head and angle of the club. It can't tell if you top it or duff it.

Im not going to change my settings in optishot when I know I can hit those shots IRl. Now I do disagree if people need to go higher then 100.

                          • Thanks guys for the kind words. I did record it so if anybody is interested in seeing the round I can put it on YouTube later on tonight. Reason why I don't is because it takes about 45 minutes to upload the file.

Yes I did that in a practise round. And the whole round I was getting this screeching sound. Had to turn the sound off. I looked around twitch to see why but I'm really not a computer tech when it comes to that.
