The wind does seem to be overstated as far as effect on putting. Another thing we should let DD know about to correct in future updates. I know wind has an effect on putting in real life, but not to that magnitude. You almost have to read the wind more than slope. It tends to trump the break.

"It tends to trump the break"... Come on... That's like saying Tiger Woods tends to play better than 25 handicap average Joe. It was a bunker that killed my score today. Took 5 shots to get out. This is not steaming because of a bad score. I was only 2 over after 7 when I called it. I am going to seriously consider not taking part in the final round. I do not see how the conditions would serve our community in any positive way. I think we should call time out and seriously consider both the fast greens and the wind. I would like to propose a vote on the matter. This wind thing was something none of us had any way of knowing before the tournament started. I'm NOT blaming anyone in the community for this. It is a bug in the software and I feel we need to react to it. In the same way the R&A would have to react to something that made the Open unplayable. I am inclined to think that quite a few people might agree with me after they have played their second round.... But you never know. Maybe people will think it's a laugh and that I'm a bad sport. It might be that too... LOL

I felt the same way for both my rounds. I had a shot into a sidewind that was barely coming back at me and I had to drop 4 clubs stronger and still came up short of the green. I hit my 200 yard iron less than 130. Between guessing what club to hit, hitting 350+ yard drives with the wind at my back, and hitting putts that break uphill, I couldn't manage even par, let alone under it.

Round 4 outta be interesting with 17+ mph winds and fast greens. Honestly, I don't think putting in those conditions will be a possibility, the wind would roll the ball off the green on every putt.

Um alright. I'll be more enthusiastic in my wording next time when agreeing with you.

Didn't meen for it to come out as if I was against you Vega. Sorry if it came across like that. Just wanted to say that it was a bit of an understatement. The break had very little to do with where the ball ended up in my opinion. In the real world there is no wind in which a human could stand still and putt and at the same time the wind would trump gravity. Hurricanes are a different story... But not many of us would go and play golf on a day like that.

I concur. It affects it far more than it should. I've sent DD an email to request they look at this. Definitely exaggerated with the putter.

It might be a laugh if it was the highest setting for wind and it was called extreme or something like that. As it is there is actually one notch further before it's maxed out. Thought it was OK as far as aiming drives and approaches are concerned though.

I cant comment on the putting as ive not played this event, but i have played plenty of Scottish golf and the wind is extreme, playing donald trumps course in aberdeen my best drives would only go 175yds, so a 200yd club going 130 sounds reasonable to me.
i have to laugh to myself watching the pga tour the commentators often say its windy i look at the flag and its barely fluttering!
Maybe dd arent so far out?

Also worth bearing in mind Tiger Woods shot an 81 at the british open at his peak in 2002....

The wind was pretty much spot on from tee to green. I've played a lot of real links golf (even the old course on two occasions) and know all too well how a 9iron is anything from a 70 yard club to a 210 yard club. Putting is the problem and it makes a mockery of the game we love.

I personally feel like it's quite accurate with woods and irons. It amplifies a draw/fade and I was clubbing up 2-3 clubs, which seems about right.

Yes wind does have a great deal of effect on putting, but like Corey said might be a little exaggerated. Can't say for sure remember on MediumFast and Fast greens it will have more influence then Normal or slow greens, lets Resistance

I agree that the wind moving the ball on the greens is way too far from realistic and it was not fun nor a challenge to putt today. It was a guessing game. The bug needs to be fixed soon if we want to play stronger than moderate wind.

                                Cheers
