When I was moaning to Optishot Golf about the muting of the audio on Twitch I mentioned to them they should offer up some prizes too, in the form of platinum downloads. An english phrase we have is owt for nowt, ie if they gonna give to ya fro free, then why turn it down.

As you say depends whats involved, and also how it will be administered but sounds good to me

The only issue I see with it is that it might entice cheating. You could create two flights, one as is and another with prize money in which recording is required. Then again, if someone cheats for $100, they obviously need the money a lot more than the rest of us anyway.

Sometimes playing for money & prizes brings in the wrong sort of golfers.

Personally I have fun just trying to finish as high as I can on the leader-board.

You could draw the prize randomly at the end of the season for all golfers that had a perfect attendance.

Money or prizes with on line golf is not a good idea for winners or even the top 3. Guys will change anything and everything to get an advantage. It will create issues with the HC and how it is calculated and everything else you have worked for to make things more even.

Why not do something like this: Have the $100 split into equal parts like 5 x $20 amounts and do a random draw from all who enter no matter how they finish as long as they finish.
This would do more to get the numbers up for participants and everyone has a chance. There would be no need to cheat.

As I said administering it is the issue and your all most probably right it cant be used for winning a tournament/season

If not drawn then maybe as hole in one prize? That way everyone has even chance irregardless of handicap/score etc. easily administered too as would have both scorecard and pretty sure video evidence would appear

You could also not mention what course or what money would be given for. One could be closest to X pin on a par 3, most fairways hits, most GIR, best scramble%, ect. Would be something only a few individuals would know about or maybe just one or two. It would probably also mean the people in the know would be disqualified from participating for the same reasons mentioned above.

On the golf week am tour I play in here in Michigan we have a mystery hole every tournament. Whoever gets the best score on that hole wins prize. Most of the time there is a tie so the money carries to the next event like a skin. At the end of the season the best score added up from every mystery hole from each event wins a prize. Guys like it and sponsors like it because they can donate prize per event and the big prize at the end.
