Think that's a really good way of doing it, as no reason not to enter both events as same round counts for both. Will keep the regular standards high, getting to compete with the low handicappers but also gives you a chance to play against each other at 0 as well.

Still think though by 4th event regular tour caps will level out as scores adjust to new settings and handicaps for players get more accurate with more rounds and will see very very close tourneys with winning scores around -5 at the very most, which ultimately is how it should be in my opinion Just lack of rounds at these settings meaning players playing off to high or too low an index at the moment.

Need to get new player starting index system nailed down. Perhaps should have to play off 0 ( or below if still scoring low) until 9th round completed or something, I dunno. Don't want bandit tournament winners but equally need to encourage new players to keep playing. Tough one to balance.

Your pro tour scores will look just like pro event scorecards, -15 to -18 winning scores due to most playing off too higher mark compared to their opti ability, but will be as the pro tour is in real life so win win I guess.

As I say though think pro tour wil be unenessary by 5th event of regular season but the way it's been setup can see no negatives with it

I say make a choice..........if your in the pro tour, don't post in the other tour.

Make a choice where you want to play. It's unfair to the other league regardless of handicap. You want to post a low score, then do it. Don't post it in both leagues.

I understand PSgolfer viewpoint as I have been chatting with him for about 15 minutes on it... I'm not sure if he shares the same opinion of the majority in the League.....

Please let us know how you feel on this..

My personal opinion is the need to support both leagues at same time and keep participation up with more players in both Leagues Scratch and handicap until we grow a little more.....

I personally think long term then yes, make it a separate event, in order to keep the better players away from the the higher handicap players to give them a chance of winning/tops 5s etc

However with the numbers the way they are at the minute I think its fine to play in both, especially as handicaps will get more accurate by the time the next event is over as all who've played all 3 events this season will have 9 rounds, be on auto handicaps and so should be totally fair for all. It will be totally perfect after the 1st major as everyone will have more than 10 rounds using the new settings and guidelines, and with the system using best 5 from last 10 to calculate once everyone (well most regular players) have done more than 10 rounds then the handicaps should be pretty accurate.

I again personally think we'll see handicap league being far more competitive than the no handicap league, as I explained in previous post.. this is how it should be. Handicap league should have nearly everyone scoring overall a similar score, apart from those who play really well or really bad.


As long as they are run as separate leaderboards and one has no effect on the other with regards to season points etc then no reason not to play in both if you want to. I would argue that there is no reason not to play the handicap league, and maybe you should have to, just to keep your handicap current.

I see the logic of allowing anyone to play the no handicap league if they so choose though, although again personally I like the fact you have to qualify just to give you something to shoot for.

I wouldnt be adversed to allowing it open to anyone though, if that was the decision made. Again personally I wouldnt play in it until I knew I was competitive as no point really.

I can't think of any reason against posting scores in both leagues. I dont see a problem with it. It won't be any different than what we're currently doing now. The no handicap league is just in addition to the main league.

Although I'm not playing in the pro league - not yet ;-) - I see no problem posting scores in both leagues. In the pro league you play against the best absolute score and in the cap league against best score relative to handicap. That's ok in my opinion, this is equal to real life amateur scoring in Germany (two lists of result: brutto - netto, somewhere else?). Otherwise we see two small leaderboards and the optishot community here may divide into two parts. Like John M. said, two separate leagues could be useful, if there are more players here...

This wouldn't be a bad idea, however 6 Rounds to may be a little much for most players, As far as being competitive we can make the one Event very competitive for both Leagues, I don't think playing from back tees is the way to do it, we still want all players to be able to reach Greens in Regulations...

That's why I usually look at the Total distance when selecting Tee Boxes 6500-7200

So I think Ian hit on the head. Have two different tourneys, play the tips and wind conidition and faster greens for the pro's and for the regular league have it from the middle tees, not so windy and not so fast greens.

If a player really wants to play lots of golf, let them play 6 rounds, if not, then just play 3 rounds.
