Putter and misreads (or software glitch) cost me again... Need to have a think if Iwant to subject myself to 4 rounds of fast greens, dont know if my temper can take it

That's why I suggest mulligans for shots like that but that got turned down faster then I could type this.

On my second round at Torrey pines I had 3 misreads that cost me 7 strokes.

But people keep saying it would be hard to police. But it's really not. If you have a misread you post your video and explain what shot went wrong. If the committee wants to take a look and see if it warrants a mulligan, If the committee think its not a mulligan then you would be accessed a two stroke penalty for every mulligan the committee thinks different.

Trying to find a partner to play with is like finding a needle in the hay stack.

And has a playing partner you really don't see what his numbers are when he does it a bad shot. That's why it's recorded and you can go back after the round is over and check the video out to see if a mulligan is required.

But I keep seeing people post on here saying how many misreads they get but nothing is done about it

It's not about who can shoot the lowest score and win out right. It's about who has the least mis reads wins.

I don't mind misreads if they don't cost me any strokes. I can accept that. What I can't accept is when it cost you strokes from being out of bounds when hitting a pw 146mh that goes 100 yards past your target or hitting a 5w to a par 3 that goes 340 yards. That I can't accept but unfortunately you have to.

the solution is each player need to do their best to minimize misreads by lighting, taping, work on swing by not hitting to much turf.... Misreads will always be a part of the game but we need to take responsibility for what we have control on.. Mulligans will never be part of a league that I participate in/nor gimmies... So my suggestion is to do everything you can to help your system read your club correctly, we all have the same units..

It is what it is. I think you gus are doing the best you can with this very affordable GAME. It will never be perfect. If you dont put in the time and effort to find the best lighting and taping and calibrating every club, then you will never get close to your real game.

Jason I am not sure why you are getting so many misreads, other then the fact you have a fast swing speed.. I would ensure proper calibration of each club. Then I would slow down your swing speed a little so your more consistent. The slightest turf contact at that speed would cause your face to open or close depending on whether your hitting heel or Toe on mat..

Again I would do everything to figure out why you are getting so many misreads... Usually when I do have misreads I can identify what caused it.. Just like a bad swing, I can usually figure out what I did wrong..

There is no way we are ever going to want to sit and watch every video that players play to ensure they used the mulligans properly.... Unless you have 60 hours a week to watch each one, I personally do not..

So then why is the need to post videos and why do I see so many post there comments on how many bad misreads they are getting.

I have done everything possible to minimize misreads but I think I have done my best.

So now I have to slow my swing speed down. The problem I'm having is it's going twice has far has It should.

I guess in the end it's the least misreads wins.

So I just hope that the people who post there misreads post now on this debate or please don't post there misreads at all when they post there videos.

Misreads are never pleasant I know I have had my share at critical stages in the game and have lost Tournaments because of them, but I can honestly say that during those times the pressure was a little more and my swing my have not of been at its best, so in essence I caused the misread either by gripping too tight, coming down too steep, not noticing the Turf creeping up onto sensors, sensors needing cleaning, fiber on sensors and so on... Misreads happen for a reason usually we can figure out what caused it if we are honest with ourselves..

I normally dont suffer with many, other than the odd open face. Todays were weird, both shots from same spot,, both had swing speeds up in the 100MPH range with 7 and 6 iron respectively. In the end just knocked it out onto fairway just to avoid another OB.

I accept the odd open face ones as possible swing flaws, but not the speed ones, thats just a glitch, unless its a top in which case its a design limitation. Shame as my driver and iron play was the best its been really, hit lots of GIR, just cant putt on fast when anything over 10 ft as just runs out too much in my opinion.

I too dont think mulligans are a feasible option, just too much of a pain to enforce.


My round "score" was ruined by the misreads, but my enjoyment was ruined by my own inability to play fast greens. Just seems like any extreme of setting on Optishot doesnt work right... Highest Trajectory, Fastest Greens, High (well moderate) levels of wind, Very Demanding Rough, none of them reflect their real life version. I think thats what frustrates me as on the whole its a pretty good replication of real golf, just with certain settings it then reverts back to a game again, having to play the software, not golf.

Its just a personal thing as many of you probably play courses with faster greens in real life than my local, and I know these are pro courses that play fast but they do just seem artificially fast in my opinion

I usually find with the Speed issue, I can trace it back to, 1 of 3 things.. 1) Tape issue, Bottom of club not completely covered with non reflective black, or has metal showing in places from wear. 2) Lighting club picking up reflected light from another source. 3) Turf Top creeping up onto rows of sensors caused by consistent hitting eventually moves turf towards sensors.. When I have speed issues I can usually correct it by looking at these areas and it goes away...

As to the above 1. I dont tape irons as generally they are good and are a pretty flat relective surface anyway, and to affect 2 clubs the same would be strange, 2. possible, although with no changes the next shot after moving from the rough position i was in read fine, 3, jagman joe top cannot move as covers the whole unit, and again was fine for next shot and rest of the round.

Gonna just put it down to a weird scenario. As I say I accept these things happen, just frustrating lol

I may have to eat my words on green speeds too, as youll see some more of my fun maths in the Putter speed. Looks like from a Stimp meter point of view the greens do appear to be pretty accurate with ball rolling at stimp meter speed

Every time I go to try and start round two and input score I get an error page not sure what that means ?but I'm going to try and play and have to put the score in when it's fixed
