Free Carpeted Stance Platform for Optishot

If there is anyone in the Atlanta area that would like a free stance platform for their Optishot I have one that I built, but have replaced with a Monster Turf mat. It is 2-1/2" thick and is designed to work with the SlickThings.com Premium or Monster Optishot Turf, but the opening for the Optishot can be built up so it will work with the standard Optishot turf.

I hate to throw it away since I spent $115 to build it, but it's not something that can be shipped anywhere and would need to be picked up in Woodstock. If you're interested let me know.

Ian, I would recommend a 5'x5' Monster Turf mat instead if you're going to spend the money to build/buy something. I got mine from AllTurfMats.com and it's awesome. I posted some pictures of it with the OptiShot inset in the Simulator Pictures forum.

I use one of the mats from a driving range Ian, just cut out the hole for the sensor to swing in with a jigsaw. its nice and easy as theres aready a hole to start with where the rubber tee used to sit, and I found it to be near the perfect thickness for Optishot when using standard turf. I got an old one from a golf course for £30

If you ever then decide to upgrade to a turf top from joes, i just then used those foam interlocking tiles and raised the mat up the height required, again cutting out he hole for the sensor pad.

You must have some decent height ceilings in your house, I couldnt fit mine indoors and swing a driver or even a 6 iron, hence the need to have it in my workshop down the farm

As for a hitting net ive got something similiar to this, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Advanced-M...item2a4ca2a691, but obviously I have an impact screen on the "back" wall of it and then mount projector to the top back rail and away you go.

This is the actual item I bought from a golf club in chigwell essex, he threw in the matt for an extra £30

Its basically just electrical conduit pipe, with heavy gauge tarpaulin sides and rear with a impact screen that attaches into it.

Projector was £70 off ebay, and away I went.

Total cost for my whole setup was

£175 - Optishot, used from Ebay,
£280 - Cage and mat, used from Ebay
£60 - Turf top, new from Jagmanjoe
£25 - foam undertiles to raise mat
£70 - NEC 260MXS HD Ultra shortthrow projector, used from Ebay
£20 - Teego ball dispenser, used from Ebay

Already had the laptop, I use,plus bought other bits and bobs, laptop stand, footpedals webcams etc, built a protection screen from MDF to prevent stray balls bouncing back into laptop.

All in all under £700, which I was pretty chuffed with, especially as the closest thing I could find as a turn key solution here in UK was

I am new to the site as I just purchased my optishot 2 yesterday. I was wondering if you still had your carpeted stance mat that you were trying to give away? And if so, what are the dimensions? I am driving from Florida to Kansas here at the end of July and drive right through Atlanta and would love to pick it up if it is still available.

Jsrich, I'm in the process of creating this same platform. Can you link to what type of carpet you used? I've got the jagmanjoe insert and have bought all other materials accepting to slickthings.

It was called Millenium Green Grass from Home Depot and they had it on the 12' wide spools in the store, but it appears they no longer carry it. I just searched by part# from my receipt (1000-022-298) and can't find it that way either. It was rubber-backed which made it very easy to work with, especially doing the corners.

Also why are you changing platforms?

The platform moved around too much (I have the grass carpet from Home Depot on the floor as well) and didn't feel like real turf. The Monster Turf hitting mat from AllTurfMats.com is a much better feel in my opinion. It's also about 2.5x the cost, so it's all about what you want vs. what you want to spend.

Jsrich, thanks for the info. I'm also thinking about pulling the trigger on skytrak, so this might be temporary. You said you build the platform for $100ish and the monster turf was 2.5x that correct? Which one is it on their website, I spent some time considering some of those options and am curious to what you ended up with.
