Hitting sensor cut out after hitting ball

So, i literally just started playing around with my optishot yesterday. I have the the slick things monster turf on it. I have a lot of messing to do with lighting, settings, etc...but one of the first things i noticed was that on just about every shot, I end up hitting my irons against the lip/cutout of the front sensor. This doesn't seem like it would be very good on the turf? it almost seems like the slanted end of the optishot, where the original turf did not cover, should be where you follow through.

anyone else have trouble with this? does it tear up the turf quickly?

other than lighting, calibrating the clubs & adding offsets, lofts, etc...is there anything else i need to do to set it up?

I have the slickthings with the original turf and hit without issue or degradation to the mat. However, where my unit drops in, i'm starting to wear out the turf that's covering the stance platform, right in front of the unit.

I have both the Monster and Premium turfs from Slickthings and have not seen any issue with tearing in the cutouts. I tested the early versions of the turfs and any tearing in the cutouts have all but been rectified. No tearing thus far and I have never seen any complaints about it from other users.

I no longer have my OptiShot but I did have problems after a year with the 2nd cut out. I had Monster Tee Turf and after 1 year the turf started to wear down. To fix it I added clear silicon all along the front edge of the turf that the club hits. This made a big difference. So something to keep in mind if you notice it starting to wear down.

I am the one that makes the One Piece Premier and the One Piece with the Monster turf. I have been making the Optishot Premier tops without issue for about 5 years now. About a year and a half ago, I started getting a lot of requests to embed the Monster turf into my urethane base so I finally started offering it as an alternative. My first concerns about the Monster brand were that the turf was not as dense and the backing on it, in my opinion was not as good a quality as the Premier. The lower density does provide a softer feel but not without its pitfalls. I can not answer if those are due to the manufacturing process or materials used in their process.

With the less dense turf on the Monster brand, your club has more ability to penetrate the turf for those that hit down and through the shot which can allow the clubhead to snag on the second sensor opening. That is part of the reason that if anyone questions the difference between the two, I always express my preference of the Premier turf. I find it interesting that Allturfmats has just changed the name to Godzilla turf - I do not believe anything else has changed because I had to order more of their turf in this past week and either they just sent me their original Monster turf or have not made any changes other than the name. The look and feel on what I received is, from what I can tell, the same.

The Premier turf is a first class turf that is used by several resellers under different names. That is why I chose it initially.

I'm with golfsimulatorguys and we were first to design this turf top. Everyone actually copied it.

In the past we had that problem with people hitting the front of the cutout and tearing their mat. That is why we redesigned our mat so the front of the turf top is extended. This greatly reduces tears. Our images don't actually show this as we have not updated them. But the front is extended.

I am not going to get into a contest with you but when I leveled the turf 5 years ago when to my knowledge, no one else did it for the Optishot and, your tears must have been in the design since you know we both use the same turf itself. My Premier turfs do not have the tearing issue. Ohh by the way check out other extended turfs on ebay!

Just wanted to say that jagmanjoe is a super stand up guy with a great product. As to who made the first turf...I could care less. When I was looking into an aftermarket turf years ago there wasn't too many options. Jagmanjoe came up with one of the first solution and to my knowledge the first one with the urethane base. It works and it what I would recommend to anyone.
