So I am new to this website and looking for some help. I am putting the final touches on my DIY optishot setup in my garage and trying to figure out my lighting. As of now, I just have 2 CFL bulbs right next to my sensor. I am wanting to put lights in the ceiling above so I don't have to see the light setup and so it will be directly over my sensors. The ceiling is about 16 foot high and I am wanting the spot light to be only on the sensors to minimize surrounding light so the projector picture is optimal. I have been looking at the very narrow spot LED lights. I think I need to the lowest beam angle (7-15 degrees?) I can find but to be honest I do not know much about light bulbs. I was curious if anyone else has tried this type of light setup? If so, any thoughts? Suggestions? I can try to upload pictures if that would help. Thanks so much! Merry Christmas!

Hi
I've tried two set ups and both work but mine are lamps on the floor by the sensor one is a small LED lamp and the other is a twin strip light lamp both work perfect with no taping needed
My only other light sorce in my garage is obviously the projector ceiling mounted and 3 small spot light behind the hitter above the bar I think personally this is why they work well as there is no other light hitting the sensor
Cheers

Swingdoctor... Did you ever get this figured out? I have 2 LED spot light bulbs aimed at each sensor/23 beam angle... NONE of my clubs will calibrate and reading swings are hit or miss (1-4 swings will read) PLEASE HELP!

I played around with lighting for a while. i have found what i believe to be the best setup. It works flawlessly. i think the folks at Optishot should include this example in their intrsuctions!
Anyhow, here's a pic. these are LED shoplights found at Lowes for about $40. These are mounted directly above gthe sensor pads. Now I have two because I am using two sensor pads with a usb selector switch to control each. this simply allows me to have lefties and righties play in a smaller footprint. I get zero misreads, and the only no reads i get are when someone tops a ball, which puts the clubhead too far above the sensors

From my experience. you have way too much direct light. You want lighting that produces ZERO shadowing as in my image posted above
