I've been playing with the Optishot 2.0 for about 6 months now and I've started to put together a list of small changes that could improve the game interaction. I don't know if any of the software engineers or designers read this group, but hopefully they can filter up to the right coders. So with that let me describe the first change I would make;
1) Ball Calibration. In the ball calibration process, you swing your club 5 times straight, 5 times 10 degree toe out angle and 5 times with a 10% toe in angle. The change I would make is the following; for every 5 swings, you have to move to the computer and mouse over and click next on the dialog windows. For me that means, 5 shots on the optishot, getting out of position and walking across the room to click next. (with 12 clubs you have to walk across the room 36 times to click next). I would get rid of the <NEXT> button, and have the system signal you after 5 swings with a Bell, or better a BONG, and the spoken instructions like "The calibration set is complete, please prepare club position for next set" and proceed on. The optishot is going to wait until you swing anyway so why do the click <NEXT> after each calibration set? As a programmer myself, this should be easy. Take the <NEXT> away and put in a Bell sound followed by a 3 second sleep and then proceed to the next set.
2) Allow Mulligans in Practice Mode. If your in practice mode on a course, and you have the "Always Follow" flag set, it you can not go back and retry a shot. I don't have my machine here right now, but I think that's true even if you have "Allow Mulligans" enabled in the settings. In practice mode, it would be nice to have mulligans enabled all the time so that you can redo an interesting shot in practice.
Those are two minor easy changes I would like to see in the optishot2 software. I have some more idea but they may be more difficult for the programmers to implement. (I would love to be able to leave a note at the tee). Does anybody else have any thoughts or ideas?
