Hello all..I'm new to the optishot world. Just got one last week and have everything built and up and running. I'm a scratch player in Nebraska and was looking for something to continue to play in the winter. So far when I'm playing with no ball I have no problems. However, when I use almost golf balls, I'm having all sorts of crazy shots. I think I'm being pretty tentative when swinging because I really don't want to hit down too hard. I have read a lot of reviews about the slick things premier turf. Would that solve the problems of hitting balls? I would like to hit balls to get the feedback, but also want reliable numbers as well.

A few questions. Did you set the Optishot to Foam Ball setting? Are your clubs taped? Did you calibrate each club? What is your lighting set up? Why were not hitting balls in the first, just to test it?
Sorry for all the questions, just need to start somewhere.

No problem....I have used foam ball and real ball setting...real ball were better readings. I have taped all clubs and calibrated. Lighting set up one LED light directly above the sensors. I didn't hit balls at first bc I didn't have my impact screen built yet.

It is probably your swing then. If your hesitating or slowing down your swing at all it could alter the swing path. Are your shots going long/short or R/L?
An after market turf top is a must. I would invest in that immediately to get better results. I am also under the impression LED lights aren't the best option. It is best to go with CFL. I have two CFL bulbs directly over my sensor. If you are a scratch golfer you should have no issue getting the readings to mirror real life. You will have the occasional misread but if you know your swing, Optishot is a good tool for the money.
Maybe you have looked at my set up but you can see how I have my lights and my after market turf top. http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...shot-sim-setup

Very good...I figured it was the turf...like I said I'm very tentative with hitting down on it right now. Almost all shots are short and right....my normal shot shape is a slight draw. I get that with no ball, but as soon as I put a ball in they are all short and right. Thanks for the info. I will get the aftermarket turf top ordered today...is the slick things the best to go with?

Try hitting off small tee so you don't hit the mat and see if that improves the results when using real balls.
Lighting is always worth experimenting with for final fine tuning and a good place to start is a dark room with just your projector then go from there.
